Hello,I have a appointment with my consult nuro on thurs I think he is going to want to change my meds I really do not want him to as I dont have any major side effects. I am taking lamictal and have pretty good control but not total. Just really wanting to know, do many peeople settle for not having complete control? Also I have a thing happen where i was get tinglin all over me upped meds a tiny bit and they stopped. They have just come back again but not as bad, does anyone know or have any experience of this? thankyou xx

Hi mortimer --

Tingling is a Lamictal side effect, so that may be what you were experiencing. What kinds of seizures do you have in general? That can make a difference in terms of evaluating seizure control and the meds.

As far as changing meds -- that's your call. The neurologist can't force you to do something you don't want to do. If you're not bothered by the uncontrolled seizure activity, then you should be able to stay on the Lamictal. However, if your seizure activity is escalating in frequency or duration or kind, then you should definitely considering making a switch -- once the brain gets in the habit of seizing it can start happening more and more often.

grrr getting ready for the neuro

Hi thanks for the reply. The things I get are these little jolt things in my head, they sometimes effect my speech. In the distant past about 15 years ago before meds I had a thing where all my muscle went limp and I would end up on the floor. Had the jolts on and off for last 10 years. I had full controll for 3 years before that I had them all the time but now just a little bit. I had a horrid time with epilim and it didnt work very well. lamictal has been pretty good. It never really occured to me they could be causing harm xx
