I've been dealing with epilepsy for some years now and it's been miserable. I thought it was my neurologist, but it was just me. Recently I had a surgery up my nose and in my nasal cavity and the surgeon prescribed hydrocodone. At the time or the first week I didn't know about it, nor did I have any seizures that I knew of, then people, neighbors and family started seeing that I acted different and my character started to change. Then, the complex partials I haven't felt in awhile, came back out of nowhere while I was sitting at the top of my apartment stairs chatting with a friend. When it hit I took a tumble and hard steep fall, but when the paramedics came to help or take me to the hospital.I wouldn't let them. That same day I had more. and days before, because I didn't know I was having them and by the doctors mistake opened my eyes harshly. Yet I'm so grateful to God for this site and the people that are on here too.

Hi Kenn,

Welcome to CWE! I'm sorry to hear that you had seizures but I've had them for 45 yrs. and I have complex partial and absence seizures. My advice to you is to have your family Dr. refer you to see an Epileptologist. These Drs. know what causes the seizures, and I have found my Dr. gives me the least amount of med to control my seizures. Cut back on the carbs and starch foods this will help reduce the seizures. Wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Hi Kenn, welcome to the forum. :hello:

My wife recently had a back surgery and they prescribed some hydrocodone for her for pain relief post surgery, but she only took it for two days before she said she didn't want to continue taking it (the Rx was for a couple of weeks). You can check with your doctor on this point, but I believe that you don't have to take the hydrocodone if you can deal with whatever pain the drug is supposed to be masking.

It counters most seizure medications. Caused me to have many seizures in a short amount of time.

Hey Kenn, welcome to CWE!

I hope this patch of seizures is just a temporary reaction to the hydrocodone, and you get back on track soon!

! ! ! ! WELCOME TO CWE Kenn ! ! ! !

Kenn,
I have lives w/E for over 50 years and have found out that the best way to deal with anything that my E causes that may be negative towards my life as a part of MY(I don't have to be like everybody else) life. This way I can learn how to not let these negative things get me down. By doing this I have developed into a much stronger person(not letting things get under my skin) than many of the people have been who were 'normal'.
You can do this too! It just takes you to truly want to do it!

I find chronic pain day in and out makes things worse.Did you stop them abruptly could be little bit withdrawal that happens to me when go 36 or more without pain reliefe.Sort of damned if you do damned if you dont

Sorry about the wait, I'm still learning how to learn this site. Though I've had epilepsy for year's I'm so new at this because of a mistake from a doctor recently given me the wrong prescriptions.

Hi Kenn - welcome to the very lovely CWE club. :-)

I'm newer here, too, and everyone has been absolutely fantastic. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, and if there's ever a question, this is the place to ask it. I get how epilepsy can make you feel miserable at times (and sometimes it's also the meds talking!). However, I'm with acshuman on how to deal with the negatives. And I'd also be kind to yourself. It can be shitty, there's no getting around that, and letting yourself feel your emotions is healthy. Just make sure you keep them in good proportions - if you're ever in doubt of feeling too crappy, come here and chat. My door is always open, anyway.

The hydrocodone that was prescribed to me is slowly leaving my system, I had no idea of how it made me feel as if I was two different people. For the first week I was by myself, I couldn't tell I was having seizures because it felt as if I was always just coming out of a daze and sometimes just waking up. Because, the medication is so potent the auras was even different that I didn't know when I was having them.

Hi welcome to the site! I've had seizures since childhood. I had Simple Partials since then, but nobody knew what they were until after I had some Tonic Clonics when I was 14. During an EEG they were able to identify the "feelings" I complained of as seizures. About 17 years ago I suddenly began having Complex Partial seizures as well.

I take similar but no side effects I do however get side effects with tramadol.i was on oxycodon no side effects I also take dihrocodine I do get horrible withdrawal if stop abruptly but constant pain is no life either.I am told medicinal cannabis the best thing but not many hospitals are licensed to prescribe it.The addictive bit taken out leaving only the pain reliving parts..It do seem very unfair doctors unable prescribe that but can opiates
