:e:Hello everyone:-)

Hope you're doing well. I just joined this group..

I'm PhD student in Psychology and I would like to know how people with epilepsy adjust themselves with epilepsy and cope with it. I would deeply appreciate if I can hear from you guys,
Thanks,

welcome :)

you adjust to it because you have no choice, and you cope with it because of the consequences if you don't.

As gtowngirl said you adjust to it because you have no choice.

It's hard at first but you just learn to live with the things that you can and can't do. Hopefully you have family and friends who can help you through things and are there to help you when you need it.

Online support groups like this one are therapeutic for many, being able to talk with people who understand..

Hi Aisan, welcome!

I think one of the best ways to adjust and cope is by getting as informed as possible as epilepsy. It's especially helpful to get advice and support from others who have "been there, done that" (which is why CWE is such an amazing resource).

It can also help to find ways to assert control over epilepsy and to minimize the ways it impacts quality of life. This proactive approach is spelled out here: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f22/proactive-prescription-epilepsy-1254/

And it really helps to have a sense of humor.
