I do not have Epilepsy. I had childhood seizures (grand mal) until I was 5. It may be that my brain development caught up enough to minimize their effects on me, I am not sure.

What led me here is research indicating that certain brain-based disorders are highly common in children and adults who have (or had) seizures. I have ADHD. The initial research I have done seems to indicate that conditions such as: ADHD, Autism, and Bipolar, are far more common among anyone who has siezures, whether they are lifelong, or not.

I may not ever be a "regular," but I will try not to be a stranger.

Welcome to CWE tanstaffl28!

I am glad that you 'outgrew' so to speak your seizures. Interesting link between seizures/ADHD/autism/bipolar. In some ways it wouldnt surprise me a bit to find that there is some link.

Our youngest boy has ADHD and I know that they asked several questions regarding seizure history from when he was younger. Fortunatly he has never had a seizure, at least that we are aware of. I know that quite a few children are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD when in fact they are having abscent seizures.

Hi Jeffrey, welcome!

Have you looked into neurofeedback to help with your ADHD? From what I've read, it seems like a very promising (if expensive) treatment.

Biofeedback is making great strides in ADHD. That was something I was going to talk to Kaits neurologist about on Thursday. When I search for locations online, the closest is four hours away. Hoping that maybe just not all of them are listed. Would be wonderful for both Kait and our son.
