I'm from the Netherlands. My daughter (9 yrs) was diagnosed with Benign Rolandic Epilepsy. She keeps asking me how she can contact other girls that know how the seizures feel so she could exchange experiences with them. I didn't find any forums especially for young children on the internet, but maybe you do have any suggestions for her ?

Hi Flower,
Welcome to CWE. We do not have a children's group here, however we do have a teen private room. I would feel comfortable with having your daughter post there with your supervision. We do not have many teens posting. Mostly just parents of children that age.

I might suggest that you become familiar with the forum, get to know other parents with children that have the same type of seizure disorder, and then perhaps your children could correspond.

As you might guess that it might make many parents uncomfortable having young children of that age, meeting other children on the internet. I would say if it is guided by you, and monitored by each parent you could see if that works. Other than that, I guess a local Epilepsy group might have childrens groups. I do know there are Epilepsy camps, children can attend.

Hope that helps

Hello RobinN. My daughter feels a teen already (she will be 10 in a few months ;-)). I do understand how parents are uncomfortable with internet contact of their young children. I figured that on an English forum she would need my help to write a message and translate received messages.

I'll first do some more research for local epilepsy groups. Thanks for your answer.

Hi, Flower!

And welcome! I'm glad you found us.

This site is for more than just the person with epilepsy. There are lots of loved ones in here, too - parents, spouses, boy/girlfriends, etc. They get help and support in understanding and coping with their loved one's seizure disorder.

So, I hope you'll stay here, even if your daughter doesn't join. :)
