Hello!!!

After randomly looking for people to help out with their questions on epilepsy, I found this place and decided to give it a try!!! I am currently thirteen, going on fourteen and was diagnosed with benign rolandics epilepsy when I was eight years old. When I had my first grand mal seizure it was just a couple days after my uncle died. We had to go in the ambulance to the ER because I couldn't move so we couldn't go there by ourselves.
Ever since, I have had MRI's, catscans, sleep studies, and numerous visits to the neurologist (finding out that I also have a cyst on my pineal gland and restless leg syndrome along the way)... But they never found out what was wrong with me. I took medication for a while but decided to stop because I was sick and tired of needing to live off of medicine because I was going to have a seizure. I have been seizure free (as far as I know of) for almost two years and even though I still feel as if I could still have seizures, I have come to the conclusion to not let that get in my way.
I read once (or heard I don't remember), a quote. "would you rather be a diseased person, or a person that has a disease?" this has become one of my favorite quotes. I now take ballet classes and hope to raid enough money from essay contests and art contests to take a trip to Africa and volunteer at one of the orphanages :D.
I love to help people... So if ANYBODY has any question you can just ask me. All you have to do is send me a private message and I will try to remember to come on here daily. I would love it if I could get to know some people that have been through similar experiences :).

Welcome LoveMusic98!! always glad to have a new person join in. You are pretty grown up for your age :) I am sorry that you have had to go through so much in your young life, but you have a fantastic outlook. There are a lot of us here who feel the same way. We go on with our lives and this epilepsy thing is just a side note.

Keep up the great work, and I wish you nothing but success in your fund raising efforts!

Howdy! And congrats on being 2-yrs seizure-free!
