Hi everyone,
Am looking forward to being involved and gain alot of insight from everyone here.

I don't have Epilepsy myself but my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years was diagnosed in Oct 07 and it has been an uphill battle since then.

Reading the forums it is obvious the feelings and emotions she is experiencing are very common and normal. Just wish she would take this step to talk to others dealing with the same issues. It is so comforting.

Anyway, just introducing myself and saying Hi.

Aaron

Welcome Aaron

It's always good to see those who are looking after people with epilepsy take the incentive to do things like research or join groups like this.

There are a lot of relatives & partners here who you can probably empathise with. Meanwhile feel free to check out the site & see what information might help you. The library is a great place to start.

Hi Aaron, welcome to CWE!

It's great that you're supporting your girlfriend. I hope you can convince your girlfriend to join as well. This is a terrific site for support, advice, and empathy -- and that includes partners, relatives, caregivers, and other similarly enlightened folks.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi Aaron!
Welcome to CWE. :) Be patient with your gf. Everybody deals with E differently. :) Maybe she'll be more willing to come and chat/read after she sees how you respond to the site. :)

I think it is great for you to be so supportive. Sometimes it is just overwhelming and having someone in your corner makes a difference!

I hope you can convice your girlfriend to join. she has a wonderful boyfriend to help her through this. It is tough, as my fiance goes through stressful moments as well, but he loves me and accepts that the E is part of the package deal.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. So glad I came across this site as where I live, there are no support groups as such near by.

Rae, I read your diary posts the other day and so much of what you feel, say and do is so much like my girlfriend. The way you are dealing with it and the way sometimes you want to test the boundaries. The losing of "yourself" and your "mind" are all so familiar.

Anyway, I will post about my situation in the other threads since this is just the welcoming thread.

Cheers

Aaron,

Welcome! And thanks for being such an awesome boyfriend. Your girlfriend is very lucky!

The people in here are really nice. And the amount I've learned in here is huge. Hang out, and make yourself at home.
