Hello, my 14 year son was diagnosed in Nov, 2012 with epilepsy. He hasn't been tolerating Keppra, so we are going to change to Trileptal and slowly wean him off Keppra. Has anyone had any problems tolerating Trileptal? I am nervous to switch meds, but he has been having seizures on the Keppra and has been very moody, dizzy and tired.

Hello! My 12 year old daughter started with Keppra, it didnt help so we weaned off and onto Trileptal which works great. Not many side effects and no seizures. My girl was VERY moody, angry and tired on Keppra. So glad to be off that med.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I'm so glad your daughter has had good luck with Trileptal. You really eased my mind. I am now excited to start weaning him off Keppra - hopefully he will be back to old self soon!

Hi packers, welcome! And best of luck with your son's transition to Trileptal. Just curious -- did he try taking a B6 supplement while on the Keppra? It's supposed to help with the mood-related side effects.

Best,
Nakamova

Welcome to CWE, Packers. I hope you find the med transition to be helpful. I am from Wisconsin and am thinking you may be too. My daughter was also diagnosed at age 14. She is now15 and we are still working on gaining control.

I am on trileptal. The only side effect I had when I first started until I adjusted was some motion sickness. Reading in a car would never bother me. It gradually went away and I rarely encounter it now.
