Hope you are doing well Loudmouth. Missing you around these parts, but glad you are busy with the young'ins

We've had just a week of holidays and so far we have...been to the beach, taken rubbings of street furniture (lamposts drains etc) for one of my eldest's holiday projects, been to the local country park for a picnic, been to a victorian day at a local museum, had a 'puzzler' day where we did all sorts of puzzles through the day, and a science day where we've done some experiments in the kitchen. now there's just another 5 weeks to fill!!

went to my local castle todasy, looked at the roman mosaics, the remains of stuff that had been burnt when Boudica sacked Colchester, all the Roman relics, and there was an exhebition of miniature chinese terracotta figures from 800BC-ish on display as well. The kids enjoyed it, and A great time was had by all. NOW.... A huge welcome  to :Means900,Valentineee, Kabibbles, SantaClaus ( keep up the good work), FourDarlings (Maybe I WONT by an I-phone then!), And Mysunshine ( My Epilepsy is also herditary).

LM,

how are you feeling today? Any better? I know you were, um, a bit worried yesterday......

LOL. Yes just a little. I'm trying not to think TOO hard about the implications of the meds until I speak to the GP. Because i took epilim (sodium valproate) in the first trimester ( I've worked out that I am about 9 weeks, and only stopped taking the topamax 3 1/2 weeks ago, and the epilim 1 1/2 weeks ago) that I need to be taking a very large dose of folic acid(pharmacist says 5mg/day). Only problem is, I probably wont be able to get an appointment until wednesday, and you can only get them on prescription. The over-the-counter ones I've got are 400ug.(don't know what that means, can't work out how to make 5mg/day from them!). It's all very strange to get my head round, especially as my (current!) youngest is getting ready to go to full time school in 2 days. Calming down now, just trying to work out where to fit the new addition until we get a larger house. We are just concerned, as I have 2 children with disabilities, and my other half's eldest is profoundly deaf and has a cochlear implant. We don't think that we could cope with a 4th child with disabilities, but then I feel awful for saying that, but how would I do it? there's just SOOO much to think about. Plus a lot of the problems are hereditary- if I have a boy, there is a 60% chance that they will have the same difficulties as my youngest, and if I have a girl, there is a high chance (going on family history) that they could have epilepsy due to an inherited (very) low seizure threshold AND the profound deafness is hereditary in his family, about half the girls get that!....so a lot for us to consider, but deep down, I think we both want this baby, and we've both coped in difficult circumstances before, so I really think number 6 is going to make it's mark on the world in a few months, whatever difficulties present...At least I still have a crib and a lovely pushchair in the loft, and a lot of baby boys clothes. Bit of a problem if we have a girl, but I have 3 friends with baby girls under a year old. I'll update when I've seen the doc!

Thank you for the welcome Loudmouth! I have found this to be a very informative place with friendly people willing to share with and help out others.

hi

i havent met you yet as i am new here too so i hope to be able to get to know you and i love your colourful men they are so cute!!

i havwe a 5 year old and a 2 and a half year old both with epilepsy and i know what you mean with the risk of passing it on, it was 50-50 whether my boys would get my epilepsy and i had hoped and crossed my fingers that they wouldnt because my epilepsy is under control without meds but unfortunately they havent been so lucky, my youngest kyuss has high blood pressure and my older boy xavier has adhd, seizures, autism symptoms and he has also got a few symptoms of autism but the docs wont commit to a diagnosis at this point.

nice to meet you!!
