Hey Mortimer, welcome!

You can search for info on specific topics (like Lamictal and Keppra) using the search tab at the top. Your hair loss is undoubtedly due to the Lamictal -- it's a well-known side effect, and happened to me until I backed off my dose a bit. Feel free to post any questions about side effects or symptoms you may be experiencing. The members of CWE represent a vast storehouse of anecdotal advice, as well as terrific empathy and support.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi mortimer. Glad to have you join us. I hope you get the help and support you need here.

I am taking both Keppra and Lamictal right now and I'm losing my hair. Not in big bloches or anything like that but enough to where I shouldn't lose that much hair. I read in a book one time that the average person loses about 50 hairs a day. That's not just head hair. I don't know if it is Keppra or Lamictal causing my hair loss. Maybe both.

Everyone's side effects are different so you might be fine with Keppra. Other then the hair loss I don't have any problems with Keppra. I hope you find the right medication.

Hi, Mortimer.

I'm glad you found us, too! Everyone in here have been a lifesaver to me. They tell me all the things I need to know but my doctor never tells me.

Lamictal... I'm just ramping up on the stuff. Still on 100mg a day. Debating on whether I'll take more or chuck it altogether. (long story)

I've heard about the hair loss on lamictal, and all I can say is there are many wigs (toupes) that look very nice.

And they won't look like this:

or this:

I've heard minoxadil won't work, it may still be worth a try, though.

Welcome Mortimer!!

I have been taking Keppra for several years and have noticed no hair loss what so ever. We are all different though. This is the best place to be for any advice or ranting that you need! :hello:

Hi Mortimer. Welcome. This is a great place.

Endless, had to say thanks for much needed chuckle. Doggie toupe and awful combover. Very funny!

Remembering how I began to lose hair and actually had almost bald spot at my part line in front when I was being switched from Mysoline to Tegretol. Thankfully when I got on just the T. my hair grew back in.

lol thanks for your reply those pics are really funny aw cute little puppy. I have lost faith in doctors it is good to be on here people who know how it really is. Why are you thinking of changing off the Lamictal? It didnt work for me at all for ages I had given up on it, then I just went really well the reason its come back may of not been helped by a couple of thing I had to take the morning after pill about 4 times very close together I am a working after being off for ages. The dose has been upped a bit but I take 400 a day as it is and it is causing a couple of other problems so i should really change xx

50 hairs a day, crikey! I have also got a strange thing where I actually have hair growing all over me, maybee I will loose that as well that would be good. It is awfull though at least winter is here so I can wear hats xx

Soon you will be able to resite the saying of "Fuzzy Wuzzy"!! Don't worry, I feel confident that you will regain the hair you want and lose the ones you don't!

Hi I have just met the man of my dreams xx and just got my divorce from the one who wasnt. When I met this lovely new new man my epilepsy was fine, I was driving and feeling really well . Its now all stupid and now all theese other things also!!

Welcome to our home. Glad you found us and hope you find lots of help and freindship here.

I was on Keppra for 5 years and switched to Lamictal the last 2 years. No hair loss for me. However, I have also been on Dilantin for 29 years and that can cause excessive hair growth.
