Hello my name is Stevan and I was just recently diagnosed with Epilepsy.. You can read the whole story on my page but I am making this post to describe my aura and see what you guys think..so this week my medication dose went up and today was a rather bad day. When I get a seizure I have an aura where my ears have a ringing sound and then my hearing gradually goes away and then I lockout and go into a seizure. My seizures are not that bad though, as I only usually have one every 2 months, but that might be changing.. Today i had 3 auras that did not lead to seizures. I didn't black out but all the things with my hearing and ears happened. This happened 3 times. So what should I make of this? Is my Epilepsy getting worse?

His Stevan!

I've had epilepsy now for a little over 9 years and my situation is sort of simialr to yours.

When I was first diagnosed I was having about 3 seizures a week, no arua, just bam right into it and black out.

With many med changes, dosages and a VNS I'm down to about 3 a month like that. However I've noticed that I'm having a good bit of auras, some will go into a seizure and some won't.

My auras aren't like yours. I really don't really know how to describe them. I just don't feel right. Sometimes dizzy, confused about what's going on, my lips will tingle and other sort of things. With this I know that I know that the seizure might be coming on.

I've actually wondered if this means I'm doing better? At least now I know when I might be going to have a seizure. I asked my neuro about this but he really didn't give me an answer.

Hi Stevan and welcome to the site! I hope that we "see" a lot of you :)

Hi Stevan, welcome to the forums! It's hard to say whether your epilepsy is getting worse but changing your medication can shake things up a bit, causing you to feel worse temporarily, so give it at least a month and see how you feel then.

Hi Stevan, welcome to CWE!

Sometimes seizures can change in frequency or kind -- especially if they aren't completely controlled -- but it could be also some specific trigger that is making you or vulnerable right now. Have you been stressed or ill or unusually fatigued? Have you been eating or drinking differently?

Best,
Nakamova

Hi there Stevan!

I just recently started medication too and I noticed that I get alot of auras that end up going no where.
I figure it's just my brain getting accustomed to things.
Perhaps as time goes on these auras will decrease too.

Let us know!
