Hi guys, this is my first post so please bear with me. I have had partial complex seizures for about 20 years but not diagnosed until about 12 years ago. They are thought to be a result of injury to my head once when I was about 3 yrs old and again when I was about 30. They were few and far between so I was not sure what was going on. I just really felt weird, like a movement run thru my brain for a second and then all was ok. I took Keppra for about 4 years and then the dr gave permission to come off. About 3 yrs later, seizure showed up again.

I am now taking the generic Keppra. I have no energy, dry mouth and feel like I just can't think as well as before starting the meds again. Also, I feel like there is a disassociation between my brain and my vision, like I see but it doesn't register as quickly as it should.

I am also more nervous and anxious since starting the meds.

Any one with any experience with these type symptoms?

Hi georgia peach. Welcome to CWE.
I started taking generic Keppra in January and am at my target dose of 4000 mg a day. I don't have the dry mouth. I do believe it has slowed my thinking made me very moody and mean (kepprage) Some days the smallest thing will set me off. No energy I sleep a lot sometimes it takes me a few days to get the household chores done. I have not noticed any vision issues but it doesn't mean others might have expierenced it while on the name brand or generic Kepra. This may not have answered the questions you had but I think you'll find that us Keppra users have a lot in common.

I couldn't tolerate Keppra. Have you tried any of the other meds.?

Welcome!!! Is the Keppra helping with your seizures this time around? I guess that's the question as far as tolerating the side effects. I am on a med I don't particularly like...Topamax. It makes me feel like a retard but it works better than the last 5 I've tried so I put up with the side effects. I was on Keppra and I absolutely hated it. I felt like I wanted to punch my mother in the throat. And I love my mother! But it didn't make the seizures any better either, so I asked to be taken off of it.
Perhaps you can ask for the name brand again?

I haven't wanted to punch my mother in the throat but my 20 y/o son is another story!

Nope got one of those too! and yeah she get more like her mother every day. I do not hold that against her!

Hi Georgia Peach, welcome to CWE!

I agree with the others, sound like you need to review your meds with your neuro to see if there's something that might work better. In the meantime, you might want to add a B6 supplement, since that's known to help with some of the mood-related keppra side effects.
