Hello,

I'm Courtney- I have JME (juvenile myoclonic epilepsy). I came across this site as I was looking up info on Topamax. I have been taking Lamictal for 3 years but the minor headaches it caused were becoming less minor so I decided with my doc to try a new med and Topamax is the choice. It's been 3 weeks titrating up the dose of Topamax and off of LAmictal... I feel like I am thinking through fog somtimes and my feet tingle and I am just hoping I made the right choice to change medications. The heachaches were not THAT bad.

That was a lot of negative- yikes! I have two sweet kids ages 3 and 1, I am a special ed teacher.

Hi Courtney, welcome to the forum. :hello:

Switching meds is always an adventure. Hopefully it will work out for you!

BTW, here's some suggestions for headaches (read down the page - there are 3 suggestions in the thread).

Hi Courtney
Welcome to CWE
I know that med changes can be difficult. Hope it gets better with time.
Headaches are THAT bad. I suffered for 30 years with them. Took all sorts of phamaceuticals, until about 3 yrs ago a doctor suggested that I try ionic magnesium.
Not one more migraine. If I play with the dose too much, I get a twinge that reminds me that this isn't something to play with. It gave me back approx. 48 days a year. Nothing to sneeze at. Loads of info on this subject here on the forum.

My daughter has seizures and has tried 4 meds. none of which worked and we couldn't live with the side effects. Now she is also trying magesium and so far along with other changes she is down from 5 seizures a month to one.

... shhhhh the month isn't over yet. NOPE NOPE NOPE I didn't say that....
(looking for wood to knock on)

Welcome!

Nice to meet ya!

I understand the feeling about the headaches on Lamictal. Been there, done that. I've been on Topamax for a while now. I do like it much better. Hopefully the tingling effect wears off quickly.

I love special ed teachers. They're great!!!

Welcome to CWE!
