I've been here for a while and thought I should introduce myself. I'm the mom to four great girls. My oldest has epilepsy. She is ten now. She started to have seizures four years ago. We've been through about four different drugs now which have caused some intolerable side effects. Right now she is only on divalproex sodium, we just took her off a second med ethosuximide because her quality of life was very poor on this drug. We are doing 4 hours of neurofeedback training each week as well as accupuncture every other week. Meds have never contolled her seizures yet. She has pretty near every type of seizure. Apart from the interupptions the seizures cause she lives a normal life of a ten year old girl. We're hoping and praying one day we will see her be free of seizures.

Hi Janet - Welcome.
I hope and pray you get your answers too.
My daughter is 17 and started having seizures at the age of 14. She is med free and her seizures have reduced dramatically since working on nutritional changes, neurofeedback, and supplementing for brain health.

We do the Neurofeedback here at home now (when schedules permit) and the results are incredible. Though the diet MUST be good, and the added supplements are extremely helpful.

Give her a hug, and I hope you find CWE to be a place of HOPE and support for you.

Hi, hello and

how do you do? It's very nice to meet you!

You've found a great place to be, here at CWE!

Mr B has built us an AWESOME home here. Please feel free to check out all of the nooks and crannies, if you haven't already.

Sorry to hear of your daughter's troubles, but Robin is right.......nutritional changes can make all the difference in the world. They sure have helped me.

Take care!

Hi Janet, welcome to the forum. :hello:

I'm glad you decided to introduce yourself and say hello. :)

That's great! I highly recommend neurofeedback. How long ago did she start her sessions?

Welcome to CWE! Have a seat by our fireplace and I will get you a cup of coffee. I hope you find this a place to relax and find support for yourself as you work so hard for your daughter.

Ten is a fun age for them. My granddaughter is nine. They want to be so grown up, but still haven't put away there dolls.

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas for your family.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I have learned alot just reading your posts for the past six months. I have found this to be a great place already, although it is totally out of my comfort zone to actually post here. I have definitely been considering nutritional changes for my daughter, just a little unsure of where to start. Bernard, my daughter has done 25 hours of neurofeedback training already. We haven't noticed any significant results yet from the training but we certainly aren't giving up yet. It is a big commitment for us driving 1 1/2 hours into the city twice a week for training, but we hope it will all be worth it in the end. She also takes a handful of supplements each day. During her four years of epilepsy we have seen her go one year without seizures, she was just on supplements at this time, no meds. I have tried hard to figure out what we did right during that year but have not been able to get to that point again with her. Even though some days seem discouraging, we have faith that she will be better someday. We are just not there yet! Thanks again for the support and encouragement you people provide here.

Well, that mirrors our first experience with it. Stacy didn't really start realizing any benefits until the 5th month. When it "clicked", it was pretty dramatic though. The seizures just stopped and she was thinking real clearly. :)
