Thought I'd say hi to everyone here. I've spent the last 2 hours or so reading through a lot of topics, this looks to be a great place for support and help. Both of which I feel I need right now. I'm 28 year old male from Sudbury, Ontario. I've had seizures since I was about 12, although not diagnosed with epilepsy until I was 15. Since then, as far as I can remember, I've been taking Lamictal with some success, and some not so great results. During the teen years I was smoking the MJ quite a bit, like almost every day. It helps relax and helped the seizures. Then I stopped while in college and the seizures became more frequent, so I started again. I went about 7 years with NO seizures, while still taking the Lamictal (100mg 2 times a day). Then for no reason I had seizures again, the 1st one I was VERY lucky with. Not 20 seconds before I was in the tub trying to unclog my nose a bit. Since that time 2 years ago I've had seizures at random times, mostly while sleeping. Tried different drugs which I was allergic to (Keppra ect.) and am now back on the Lamictal and Divalproex Sodium (125mg in morning). When I started the Dival in late Feb. I was taken to lower dosage of the Lamictal, 3 days later I have 10 seizures within 80 minutes and stopped breathing. From what I was told the medics gave me 3 shots of the anti-seizure stuff to get me to stop. Ask me what happened the day before, day of and after and I have no clue, just don't remember. I was apparently tied down cause I was throwing punches at the docs, even my wife and mother. So back on the 100mg 2x lamictal plus the divalproex. Anyways now I'm 7 weeks past then and up until 5 days ago I had no seizures, I had 1, 2 nights in a row. I'm seriously thinking about getting off the DP and start with the MJ. My family has had enough of my attitude, being very short fused and angry, they're getting me in to anger and stress management meetings. At least the MJ took a lot of the stress and worries, but it was my GP that suggested I stop last year. My neurologist is on the fence about giving it to me, she wants to try more pills, something which I really don't believe in. So that's my story, aside from the lack of driving and video games sections, I'm hopeful the people here are as understanding as I've seen so far. Like I said, I could sure use some help right now. I have 1 real friend who has epilepsy but it is so hard to discuss with just 1 person who isn't on the same meds, or doesn't have seizures very often.
