hi my name is Leanne and im 21. I'm just look for some answers to what is happening to me, over 5 years ago my body would stop working and shut down completely all i could move was my head. i couldn't move my body at all. the doctors said it would get worse before it got better and they were right. within a week my head wouldn't move also and i couldn't open my eyes. But all of a sudden it stopped. and i haven't happen any trouble until i started getting really bad headaches. i had mri's and they found a cyst, which im now on tablets for. it was all grand until this morning i went back to bed for a power nap around 12 and i woke up at 1 but i couldnt move at all my eyes felt like they were glued shut and when i tried to open my hands my knuckles hurt. i couldnt move any part of my body and it felt i had a huge weight on my body. After 5 minutes i could open my eyes and my hand unclenched, but i had one almighty headache... does anyone know what is happening to me?

Hi Leanne, welcome!

The symptoms you describe could be caused by the cyst. If the cyst is pushing against a motor function region of the brain, it could cause paralysis. The paralysis can be temporary and it can show up in a particular area like your hand, or over a larger part of the body. Cysts are know for causing intense headaches as well. Have you contacted your neurologist to let them know about these symptoms? Maybe your medication needs to be re-evaluated.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi Leanne, welcome here at CWE. This forum was made out of love by Bernard for his wife Stacy. That love permeates throughout the whole forum.

We are not doctors and we only know that the brain has an influence on our entire body. Look throughout the forum and you will find people who know more than i do. I am here to learn and I will support you. So will everyone else here in the forum, who you run across.. We all feel for you.

thanks guys, Nakamova no i haven't said anything to the neurologist because my next appointment is in three months. I will say it to him then, i dont think its my medication because i looked up the side affects and whats happening to me isn't there.

Hi Leanne, you should call your neurologist and tell him what is going on. Ask to see him/her earlier.

Hi

Im Crystal and I have suffered 2 seizures in the last twee weeks for the first time in my life? Playing WII triggers? Meds ? What exactly does the EEG determine? How much med? Im on epilum but it gives me headaches. Does everybody take about a week to recover? Has anyone lost their job because of their sudden diagnoses?

Hi Crystal,

Welcome to CWE. It was made by Bernard out of love for his wife Stacy. That love has permeated throughout the whole forum.

Most people with epilepsy can continue working. I know a lot of people with epilepsy who do.

The EEG says that you are having seizures while it is going. If you are not having seizures, even though you have epilepsy, the EEG will not show up any seizures. I am assuming that yours showed up epilepsy.

As far as the medicines go, it is a merry go round. The doctor will put you on a med that he/she believes will work for you. If you continue having seizures let him/her know. Then he/she may change or increase your med. It all depends.

It took about 50 years to find the right combo for me. I am 68 years old. I was diagnosed at the age of 6. It usually does not take that long but I have several types of seizures. I have a complicated case. How old are you?

Leanne, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well today.

Hi there Leanne, sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it. Welcome to the site, i hope you can maybe find some answers here, or if not, at least some people to talk to who understand.

Welcome Leanne
I can't imagine how scary that must be for you.
My daughter also had some frightening situations we had to deal with when she first began having seizures. Now they seem to be controlled after making serious changes to her nutritional choices. She is not on any meds, but the brain gut connection is something everyone needs to consider, especially when there are unusual symptoms that are occurring.

Sharp Shooting Pains through your head

Does anyone ever experience sharp shooting pains through your head behind your ear shooting upwards. It is almost like an icepick plunged through your head - sometimes it is so sharp that it automatically twitches my head to one side. Anyone ever experience these symptoms.

No, I have not but it must be awful for you. I have sharp back pains that shoot down my leg. I do not have it as bad as you.

Are you on pain pills?

Dear Pye, consult ur doctor as soon as possible! What are u waiting for? Which region of ur brain has the cyst?? I too had a cyst but now its not there! But E continues! Take care friend!!

I get these all the time.. they make me twitch too. My neuro prescribed indomethacin. It helps quite a bit. I can still feel the pain when I take it but it's not as intense.

hey Leanne, I too am in my 20s and I have had two brain tumors, and I have had those similar symptoms. You definitely wanna get that taken care of asap. Good luck to you

I am very sorry to hear that you have had brain tumors. It sounds like you have a positive attitude. I am glad to see that in your response.
