Hiya!
My name's Brittanii.
I'm 17 years of age [18 in 2 weeks and a few days!!].
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was about 4.
I don't know too much about it, which is pretty sad.
Just that I had adult brainwaves or something.
Mum says something about Petit Mal?
I dunno. I don't have a great memory. ^^;

I sort of have these 'zone-outs', which consist of me just staring blankly into space.
I got in trouble once at work for having one of those. xD
I also have more intense seizures, where I lose all consciousness and fall to the ground, motionless.
I don't breathe.
Nothing.

I don't take any medications, and my intense seizures don't come often.
My zone outs can be pretty common, though.
I can tell when I'm about to have a big seizure, usually, as I get pretty dizzy.

Uhm...that's about it.
I think I've ranted enough. xD

Nice to meet others with epilepsy, though.
I don't really know anyone else - I don't even have any family members with it.

Brit.

Hello Brit!

Welcome! You will find that there a lot of members here to talk with, rant to, and get advice! sounds like you are having absence seizures. Do you go to a doctor regularly? Why no meds? That might help you a great deal!

Hi Brittanii! Welcome to CWE!

I hope you feel free to wander through the archives and explore the different forums, ask questions, chat, etc. There's the Padded Room for venting, and plenty of threads if you're looking for a laugh too.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi Brittanii, welcome to the forum. :hello:

The zone outs are likely absence seizures. My wife used to have them multiple times a day before she used neurofeedback. She hasn't had an absence seizure in over a decade now.

If you aren't taking any medications, are you doing anything at all to help control your seizures? Are you keeping a seizure journal (tracking seizure frequency, diet, sleep patterns, etc.)? Eating a special diet (LGIT, GARD, MAD, etc.)?

Weldome Brit

I have to admit it can be a pain spacing out like that. I know I've missed important information more than once. The thing I"m grateful for is that nobody can tell when I do space out (usually).

Your memory sounds as bad as mine can be. You might want to check this link out to remind you about what kind of seizure you have.

Welcome Brit to CWE

I have a teen with a seizure disorder. We have found the cause to be nutritionally based.
We are beginning to see excellent improvement following an elimination diet.

I hope you find the support here that you are looking for.
