I have epilepsy - I didnt ask for it , it was forced upon me and i dont like it, Why me ? I thought in July 09 , I was going along doing my own thing , had all these plans and lo and behold I faint at work , had a fit apparently , I recall having de ja vous issues all my life , where I blanked out for 30 seconds here and there , but i never thought it was this , I fainted in 01 at work in front of my computer , and then in july 09 and the jigsaw all fit together and 1 add 1 = epilepsy ............:woot:

I lose the car , i cant swim , i cant work properly , i lose the career , i am now an addict of keppra , i suffer memory loss , losing my hair , getting heavier and have no idea where im going , life is tough and i have no idea what is happening , so here i am , i thought id try and find out from other fellow sufferers if there is a light at the end of the tunnel , as I clearly cant see no light - im suffocated by the feeling of inadequacy , lack of independence and always feeling like im drunk , its the pills i know!!!!!so hello im dotty , thats not my real name but im very mad thats for sure :agree:

Howdy Dotty, welcome to CWE!

If you're mad as in angry, it could be "Kepprage". If you aren't already you might want to try taking some Vitamin B6, that's supposed to help.

Feel free to settle in and explore the different forums here at CWE. There are places to vent and chat and ask questions -- whatever your mood.

Best,
Nakamova

Welcome Dotty

I know that anger from Keppra. I also remember forgetting everything else while I was on it. listen to Nakamova & try Vitamine B6.

Is it helping a lot, if not maybe you should ask the neuro about other medications that work better with less side-effects.

Hi
Thanks for the advice , i ws kinda joking as in mad , funny but i have found im having anger issues also , keppra is a very strong drug , i will try the vitamins , thanks , its tough , are you guys working, how are you coping , i have had to leave a very demanding job and move around ,am offsick at the moment as the drugs were so heavy i couldnt work properly ...

The first year or so after diagnosis is especially stressful I think. And it can be tough negotiating the meds along with everything else, getting a sense for what's happening, whether it's the epilepsy or the meds or you. But as Eric says, there are other drugs out there. If Keppra is doping you up, ask your doc about trying a lighter dose or different med.

And for some people, alternative treatments such as neurofeedback or special diets can help. You can search for more info about those here on CWE.

*points to name* Hi Dotty, i'm Loopy :D

I understand completely where you're coming from. I felt much the same way. I'm still very stressed and i'm also still fairly angry about all the changes and stuff i've had to make (i don't take it well) but trust me, it does get easier. I'm certainly not quite as bad as i was, but i guess it takes time *hugs*

Have you considered asking your doc about counselling? Perhaps it could help you.

Anyhoo, welcome to the site! :woot:

Dotty - just wanting to supply a slight ray of HOPE for you. There are connections between food sensitivities and neurological issues. When some folks actually make the choice to commit to making nutritional changes many see positive results.
You might consider researching this.

Just a suggestion as it is the one thing that we have tried with my daughter that is showing positive results. Meds made her quality of life.... H**L
