I'm a newbie here. I took a look around and am so pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful place CWE is. I've been in other support groups but was looking for something online that I could come to for support, advise, new info, fresh perspectives and encouragement anytime I wanted and I found it here!

About my epilepsy~ In 2009 I was hit head-on by an impaired driver. I incurred many physical injuries including a traumatic brain injury. I was heavily medicated for several weeks during my recovery and as I came off all the rx drugs, the doctors immediately realized I was actively having continual seizures, sometimes over 100 per day. They hooked me up asap to an EEG and confirmed the seizures. I knew something more than the TBI symptoms was going on, but thought it was side-effects of all the drugs they had me on. A new round of MRIs and C-scans also showed three brain lesions unchanged and scar tissue to my frontal and temporal lobe.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful neuro that is pro-active in both the management of my epilepsy and treatment of my TBI...And a very supportive family.

It is difficult for me to seperate the epilepsy and TBI from one another...For me they are very much tied together and often one exacerbates the other.

I will never totally be the person I was before the accident and I miss my old life very much at times, but Im learning to accept and like the new parts of me, even learning to love my life despite the challenges my epilepsy and TBI present in my daily life. Not all changes are negative.

I look forward to being a part of this wonderful group...The interaction here is encouraging and so friendly. I'm really pleased to have found CWE :woot:

Hello and welcome! :D
I'd normally offer some kind of advice, but it seems like you've got it all covered! :)
Hope you enjoy CWE!

Welcome Jinxicat!

I;m new here as well and I think you'll find everyone here is wonderful!
I've found everyone here to be awesome!
and they have great advice and help out with questions and helpout when I've needed it this has become my 2nd family hope you like it here.
and I've also had A TBI myself from a bicycle accident 17 years ago with 3 subdural hematomas tat went away after a chem induced coma but after getting the med records I found out they didn't start me on any AED's like they should have and now in the past 7 years my seizures have gotten worse and now with being a squeaky wheel they are getting better.
I understand about the old life and not being the same.
But again Welcome!
