Hi there, I'm new here.

Just a little about me. I had my first known seizure in November 02 (tonic clonic), had another in May 03 - when I was formerly diagnosed. I was immediately put on Topamax, and loved it for a while, graduadally went off and had a seizure 8 months after being off in April 06, back on, had a few smaller ones in June/July 07 and a tonic clonic 9/11/07 while driving my brand new not even 24 hours old car; no one was hurt, my car was fixable, my pride was most hurt! I've been seizure free since with a med change to Zonisamide with a small cocktail of Topamax on the side.

I've had a medical alert since being diagnosed. I never take it off, unless I have to take it off for something medically necessary; MRI, CT something of that sort. I wear 'em til they are so scratched on the top it's not readable, or the clasp breaks and I lose it. I'm currently having a moment where I wore the bracelet until it broke and I'm lost with out it. I've got a new one ordered.

I'm curious if this is the place to discuss what people think of a tattoo to serve as a medical alert/noting "EPILEPTIC" or something.

Take care;
Jess

Welcome Jess

This is the place to discuss anything regarding epilepsy & seizures.

Actually tattoos have been discussed here previously. I'd be reluctant to get one just because they are permanent. There is always that chance that someones seizures can stop. Seizures change without any rhyme or reason so doing something so permanent may not be a good idea.

I left out the word "just". I came here for people who I thought would be kind but I didn't expect to be accosted. Lata.

I do apologize, I didn't mean to accost.

I obviously misunderstood what you meant without the word "just"

Hey Jess, welcome!

I think you misunderstood Eric there. He wasn't accosting you, just trying to get clear on what you meant. CWE is a welcoming place, and we are open to many ideas and opinions about epilepsy. We like to think of this site as a friendly dinner party, chock-full of interesting discussions, terrific empathy, warm support, anecdotal info and advice, great jokes, rapidly dwindling snacks, and lousy coffee. If you explore the archives and different forums, you'll get a sense of that. Please feel free to rejoin the party anytime.

Best,
Nakamova

Don't forget, we often deal with members who are post-ictal.

Welcome Jess

I'm not quite sure I understand what your question is.

Would you be willing to clarify it for me?
