hi, I just stumbled upon this place and had no idea it exisited. I was recently diagnosed with temperal lobe epelilepsy but have had it for far longer. I had my first complex patial seizure six years ago and the neurologist said it was anxiety. Since that time, I had daily simple partial siezures..somtimes 15 to 25 a day , but didnt tell anyone becasue I thought it was anxiety. It wasnt until I had another complex partial seizure, in the presence of a neurologist (excellent timing) who immediatly ordered an EEG and my epilepsy was finally diagnosed. Im still having seizures , but only 4 or 5 a day , compared to 15 or more so Im pleased. I wish they would go away all together, but I also dont want to be pumped too full of meds. Im on 200 mgs of Topamax and 3000mgs of Keppra ..

Hi darbit,

I just joined a couple of days ago and I have to tell you - it is fabulous. The people here are wonderful - so helpful, warm and welcoming - and the site itself is incredible. I have spend hours just browsing all the threads. I have learned so much since finding this; mainly, there are a lot of people out there who know what you are going through.

I'm with you on the meds stuff. I hate having to take it, and fight it every step of the way. But don't stop taking it - I learned the hard way that that is never a good idea. Your seizures will come at you something awful after they lose those meds. They're like a junk yard dog with a bone - sometimes the bone keeps the dog off you, sometimes it doesn't. But take the bone away, and look out!

heyy welcome to the group! I just found this site about a week ago and I got a lot of warm welcomes so all the people here are very nice so I hope you like it here!

Thanks..

Thank you. I was glad to finally have a name for all the craziness in my head. I knew I was having something , but didnt know what it was. Im still a little bit shocked but at least it has a name and I'm not alone.

Hi darblt, welcome to CWE!

Make yourself at home, and help yourself to the coffee and donuts...

Best,

Welcome, you are in a good place with great people!

Having to take meds can be a turn off but after going off of mine various times over the years I've learned I have less seizures on them.
