hello:) i've been searching for a place to vent about epilepsy and i think i've finally found it.

my name is january even though i was born in february. i'm constantly on the move with my boyfriend. as of right now we live in new york city after previous stints in madrid, melbourne, paris, california and rome.
i was diagnosed with epilepsy when i was 13, about 17 years ago. up until last week i had been seizure free for a good 10 years and happily on tegretol. unfortunately i had a tonic clonic seizure about 5 days ago and another one two days ago. sooo i guess i'll be seeing more of my neuro soon

Welcom J.

I've always felt this is a great place for information, support or even just to vent. We've even got a padded room specifically for venting.

Hope you enjoy it & are comfortable here.

Hi January!

You are in the right place! Anything you need, you will find it here, or someone will help direct you to somewhere to find the answer. Sounds like you have lived in a lot of exciting places!!

Hi January, welcome!

Vent away, this is a great site, with plenty of folks who understand.

Best,
Nakamova

Hi January - Welcome to CWE
My daughter was about the same age when she had her first tonic clonic. Trileptal was her fourth med that we tried and then we decided to try alternatives. I am glad that we did, since she is far better controlled than she ever was on meds. In fact, for her the meds increased seizure activity.

We control her seizures by making nutritional changes. We also worked with neurofeedback for a little over a year, with good results. Meds aren't always the only answer.... IMO

Hi, January!

I'm glad you found us. The forum is a great place. :)

I am so glad I found everyone here. It makes me feel so much better to talk with people who actually understand and know the worrying and frustration I feel. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to answer my questions and give me great information. I don't feel so alone and scared anymore. U guys r awesome!!!
