Husband video taped me

I always wanted to know what I do when I have a seizure because I'll blank out and don't come too until after the seizure is over, not even knowing I had it. Druing some of them I will talk goofy, smack my lips and drool, but alot of times I'll just do goofy things. My husband will try to explain the goofy things that I do when I have one. I don't get upset because I had the seizure and acted weird, we usually get a good laugh about it.

A few monts ago I started having one where I was determined that I was going to put a pillow in a pillow case on my foot like a sock. My husband kept trying to take the pillow off of me but I wouldn't let him have it. He finally gave up and then remembered that I wanted to see what I do. He got his cell phone, which has a video camera on it, and recorded me.

I just kept trying to stick my foot in that pillow case, not getting my foot in the slot, but wouldn't give up! After about a minute when I started coming out of the seizure I just set the pillow on the couch beside me and sat there till I came too.

I didn't know that I had the seizure until he told me. He showed me the video and I got the biggest laugh over it. I was just bound determined that I was going to put that pillow on my foot, trying to cram it in there like crazy!

I'm glad he did it because now I know what I do.

I don't know whether to laugh with you, or give a good cry. Seizures stink, and I'm really happy you can have a sense of humor about them.

It's amazing your husband had the presence of mind to tape the seizure. Quick thinking on his part!

We hardly ever cry over my seizures, it takes a good bit to upset me. I usually always try to look at the positive side more than the negitive side of things. As I said, I always wanted to know what I do when I have one when I act goofy. I'm glad he did think about recording it so I could see it.

I know he get's more upset when I have one than me, espically if it's a bad one where I'm sluring my speach, really out of it and if they last a long time. He's always scared to death that this will be the one that I don't come out of.

He's a great guy. I had my first seizure with him about 2 weeks after we started dating and it was so bad that I ended up in the ER. Everyone thought for sure that he was going to be gone once he saw what he was going to have to deal with if he stuck around. But here he is, 7 years later, not even giving a second thought about running away.

You are brave to watch something that scary! I suppose it is kinda like taping a person high on chemicals. I think I would have to refrain, since I have T/C's. The description I get from those close to me is sobering enough!
It does help to have a good partner, that is not scared by our E. My hubby is a retired cop, so he has seen it all, although, when a loved one is seizing it goes personal. I remember the first time I woke up to hubby's face in mine methodically telling me I had seized, and he was going to help me dress to go to hospital. He was so calm, and I was weepy and angry at my brain. Anyway, good you have a sense of humor! :bigsmile:

I don't think I could handle watching myself having a T/C. I usually only have maybe one of those a year. But these other types we are both usually laughing after.

I actually accused him of loading the dishwasher really, really wrong once. He told me that the dishwasher was 'my thing' and he didn't go near it. That's when we realized that I had a seizure while I was loading it. I would have loved seeing myself loading it. I had every thing in there put in perferctly, just in all the wrong places. I had put the silverware very neatly layed on the drawers instead of the slots that they go in. We got a good kick out of that one!

I read about one rare instance where someone with epilepsy was shown a videotape of herself having a tonic-clonic, and it was such a shock to see that she never had another seizure again. I would watch a ton of videos of myself seizing if that would send my epilepsy into remission. Alas, none of them have been caught on camera (though my friends can give pretty good descriptions).
