Hi there everyone. I am Lisa aged 37. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2002. I have left temporal epilepsy and I suffer with partial and complex partial seizures.

Since my mum died which was last year I am not sure whether its the numbness felt by grief or whether its seizures but I have been feeling really distant from myself and detched. Almost like I am going on with my day to day life but not feeling really with it.Unfortunately I have spent alot of time googling it on the net which has caused me alot of unwanted anxiety.

My memory is as sharp as anything though. I can remember things from way back etc. I also feel absolutely shattered all the time. I swear I could sleep for England. I also go through periods where I feel cold and shivery too. I experience this with my epilepsy.
Not long had another sleep deprived EEG which picked up a predisposition in my left temporal lobe (not sure what that really means)
I am just looking for some friendly fellow epileptics to talk to and also I am gladly here to offer support too, by profession I am a psychotherpist so I am a good listener ..Hope all is well

Hi lisac, welcome to CWE!

What kind of anti-seizure med are you on? Sometimes those can have side effects on mood. And as you say, it could also be seizures that are playing a role. Since you are a psychotherapist, have you considered seeking counseling therapy for yourself to help with your grief?

Best,
Nakamova

Grief never totally leaves you, does it? I'm glad to hear that your memories are sharp so that you have the comfort of wonderful memories of your mum.
I feel cold and shivery after my seizures too. My husband knows to place a blanket on me when I'm recovering because that's always the first thing that I look for. I always ask people "have you had your thyroid levels checked?" when they talk about coldness.
I know what you mean about Google anxiety! There is too much information to be had and the passiveness of it all is not a good combination.
It sounds like you have been dealing with a lot of stress the past year and I hope you have a good support system.
Welcome to the site!
