Hi Sarah,
I know how you feel.. I've had migraines for many years. I was just diagnosed with epilepsy about a year and a half ago, so it's fairly new to me as well. I've had tons of tests... MRI, EEG, Video EEG, MEG... but everything comes back normal. They have no idea what is causing them, but they are under control, so at least that is good...
I have the memory loss, confusion, often can't come up with words when talking, exhaustion all day, some dizziness. all the loveliness that goes with the medications..
As for the kids, the best thing you can do in my humble opinion, is to educate them as much as you can, and reassure them that mom is ok, and they don't have to worry. I had to do that with my kids. We have had several talks about Dad's condition, what happens, what causes it, etc.. My youngest 2 were 6 and 8 when this started, and have done really well with it.
I would definitely talk to my doctor about the tremors and speech issues and other probs... maybe they can find I better medication for you. it sucks switching meds and trying to find the right ones, but it's better than having to live with those issues.
It has definitely been great for me to be on this site and find answers and share with other people who not only will listen, but really understand what you are going through. I often feel the "why me, why now... why do I have to take these stupid meds every day... " and it has been comforting and rather therapeutic to know I'm not alone.
I hope things get better for you. Keep your head up and know there are others out here to listen and help.
