Hi there! :hello:

I started having seizures back in march 2012- i'd get dizzy and pass out, but after a while I stopped feeling dizzy and started feeling a bit hot or agitated. I get weird sensations when I know it's coming although sometimes i don't.
Sometimes I get atonics and sometimes I get tonic-clonics, but I have seizures almost everyday.

I'm finding it a bit tricky to manage them and get on top of things as I can't work or anything so I'd really appreciate some support.

Thanks so much

Hi Kara and welcome to CWE. Sorry you needed to find us, but you will find wonderful and sincerely helpful people here. It does sound like your seizures are a bit difficult to manage.
Has your neurologist changed your drugs/dosage? Try to get plenty of rest and eat healthy. Also, you may want to watch your caffeine intake, although for many caffeine is not a problem.

Once again welcome and just post any questions you have or just to vent.

Mary

I have auras everyday and TC's 1 or 2 times a month. Just get enough rest and just take one day at a time. Listen to body! Read all you can to get an understanding of what is going on with your body.

Hi Mary,
Thanks so much for your reply :)
I've only seen had one appointment with the neurologist who hasn't talked about the medications yet - unfortunately Medicare doesn't cover the costs so I haven't been able to go back to him until I can sort out finances. But I'm on valpro at the moment and that does help, even if I'm still having seizures daily.

Thanks - I have rest makes a huge impact! I've only recently started having them in my sleep but never used to. I don't really find caffeine to be a problem and can't work the diet thing out.

I've already found this forum so helpful!! The lemonade stand is incredibly refreshing.

Hope I haven't blabbed too much! :P

Hi LW6279!

Thanks so much for your reply!
Do you have a seizure each time you have an aura, or when you have a tonic-clonic? I often find the hardest part is that aura moment when I'm losing conciousness and can't control it -it really bothers me. Oh and the concussions and whatnot's from seizures.
Yes I will keep reading :) Now that I've discovered the forum I feel so much more at home!

I have aura's and no TC's but then sometimes they come on from triggers like smells and lights. I hate the feeling of like your falling the worst.

LW6279 - so what do you do when you know a tonic clonic is coming on?
Thanks so much for sharing too!
:D

I get somewhere safe. If I'm at work there are key people who know how to help and at home I lay down or get my husband. It is scary but I don't let it stop me from doing anything if I can help it because then it wins.

Hi and welcome to the family! There is always room and the adult table for an extra plate. Sorry that you are having a rough time right now, but will be here to help you in anyway that we can.

Hi Karapbara,

I'm new to this forum as well, but I'm already finding it quite helpful just reading other people's posts and stories. It's seems to be a great place! I hope you enjoy it!

Hi huskymom, Maisy, Nakamova, jyearta and eclectic hectic epileptic!

Thanks so much for all your messages! I feel overwhelmed! :hugs:

I've already found this forum so helpful! I know that it's going to take time for me to find out why I'm having these so often, but I really appreciate that I'm not on my own and there are others going through what I'm going through.
Lately I've been a bit silly (i.e. completely fascinated by my boyfriend's feet or bawling my eyes out) between seizures, so nice to know I'm not on my own there either!!

I'll be sure to ask lots of questions don't worry! I want to understand exactly what's going on and try and cope so much better!
Hope you're all having a good day! :D
