Hey, fellow convulsing community! I need backup. Seems the professionals are failing me and I'm trying to find what might be working for others. But the Forum scene is unfamiliar to me, what's the best way to go about this? I registered years ago, but have not utilized the site until now.

Hi, Natalie and welcome to the forums!
Let us know how you feel the professionals are failing you, and I'm sure you will get some helpful and sympathetic advice. Lots of great people here.

Hey NatalieL, welcome to CWE!

Make yourself at home: You can search for threads on particular topics using the "Search" tab in the top row, or you can post a new thread if you have a specific question or comment. Epilepsy-related stuff gets posted in "The Kitchen" forum.

Best,
Nakamova

One of the biggest lessons I've learned from this forum is that epilepsy is an incredibly large spectrum of ailments that afflicts different people very differently.
So, you don't need to find out what is working for every body here on the boards (although there is a lot of good info here to point you in the right directions) You need to find out what works for you.
For some people it's surgery, for some it's meds, for some it's alternative remedies and therapies.

I found my combination of meds and diet that works for me. I hope you find yours. Ask more questions and you will get more specific replies.

Hello and welcome! Is there anything specific you'd like input on? There are so many great people who are willing to answer anything, support and give advice in the rough spots, or steer you to great information and resources.

Just ask questions or share what is happening on your journey.

The only thing working for me right now is not giving up, but I am still relatively new at treatment options.

Hello and welcome! I feel that my docs have failed me for many years. I won't repeat my story here because I've written about it a lot in other posts. The last couple pages of this thread: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f23/my-vns-experience-22263/index12.html should tell you some of what I've learned, and if you click on my avatar (the crow) it will take you to my home page. Click on the tab that says "statistics", click on the link that says "Find all posts by Arnie", and check out the last 8 or 10 posts I've made and you should see a little synopsis of what I've learned over the decades. You could also, of course, read all 1,101 posts I've made, but that might be just a bit much. Many of the posts have nothing to do with epilepsy and are, as I recall, perhaps even a bit on the wild side, so to speak. Especially the stalker ones and the ones about the CWE orgy! (The long-time members know what I'm talking about. It isn't really as bad as it sounds! :) )
Keep on keepin' on!

Hey new kid.

Welcome. I hear way too often about the doctors failing. Some of us have great doctors and others horrible. Explain to us your situation if you'd like and let us know what doctors have done and how you feel they have failed or succeeded.

Natalie welcome to CWE.

ask questions of your neuro. For years my mother never ask questions she always took the doctor at his word. Find someone who will listen to you and if he/she won't find someone who will. I can't say my doctor failed me he tried so many things.I listened to the doc wrote down what type epilepsy I had what my problem was, I have refractory epilepsy, use your computer to look things up you don't understand.
