Hello everyone!! I am new to this forum. I would like to tell you what I have been experiencing for almost a year now. Back in Oct of 2012, I started to take Prozac, I noticed that things just were not right with me. I had a lot of nausea, and headaches, was smelling things that just were not there. I was getting burning sensations on my thigh like someone was touching me and there were times I would fall on my bed and not know why or what just happened. anyways first thought was okay I am depressed. I say that because I became a victim of crime in July of 2010 where I suffered a concussion. My doctor prescribed me Prozac after the second dose I had a seizure and was admitted into the hospital. They ran numerous amounts of blood tests, did a cat scan, MRI, and an EEG. Everything came back normal, I had never experienced a seizure as I did while on Prozac. I was discharged with adult seizures and was told they pseudo seizures. that is was all my emotions creating the siezures. I was put on Lexapro for depression, keppra as a mood stabilizer, and clonzapam for anxiety. I got worse so I stopped all meds except the Lexapro. I finally got back to normal but I still have days where I am having siezures. I will get a sudden nausea feeling and headache, and then I will just freeze up. then my left hand will start to twitch and jerk and my breathing is fast as well as my heart beat. Other times my head will tilt up and my neck will tighten up. After some of the seisures I will walk in circles, or my muscles will just keep twitching and I feel extremely tired but my recovery is fast, and I back to normal. I would say that I have had about 10 seizures this month and still do not really know why. So any suggestions from any one here would be greatly appreciated because I am really tired of just not feeling good and not knowing what is causing this.Thank you for your time.

Welcome to CWE.

I have E. all my life, I now 61. My seizures don't sound anything like your.

There are so many types of seizures and seizures can change over time, My have.

I take Magnesium Chloride 64 mg and this helps with a lot of things even muscle twitching.

Are you keeping a diary, listing everything from seizure, symptoms time, how long they last. As note any triggers, such as lack of sleep, stress, infections. I myself can not take over the counter vitamin B, Vit. D, calicum, Folic acid.

We all react diff. to all meds..

Know that you are not alone.

Hi lily83, welcome to CWE!

First off, I can't believe you were prescribed Keppra as a mood stabilizer! It's well-known for causing anziety, dramatic mood swings and rage... I hope you didn't stop your meds cold turkey -- that can make symptoms worse.

Have you seen a neurologist or just the ER doctors? Even if you've seen a neurologist, I recommend that you get a referral to another for a second opinion, preferably an epileptologist.

It's not unusual for a first EEG to come out "normal" particularly for partial seizures. Often it can take four or more EEGs (ideally sleep-deprived) to get a confirmation of an epilepsy diagnosis. Even without a positive EEG, a skilled neurologist can make an epilepsy diagnosis based on your symptoms alone. And based on what you describe, you may well be having simple partial seizures, perhaps precipitated by your concussion.

While waiting to see another neuro, it's a good idea to keep a seizure diary, as jyearta mentions -- it can help you see if there are patterns or specific triggers (like hormones or fatigue or low blood sugar) that are making your symptoms worse. And a magnesium supplement is worth a try -- magnesium is good for the brain, and plays a role in reducing cramping, twitching, mucsle spasms etc.

Best,
Nakamova
