By that i mean i've joined a gym. I've never set foot in one in my life, but i really want to shift weight and get fit.

I'm petrified about going on my own though! I'm going to have to enlist a friend or two i think.

I'm glad to see that there were other people who were around the same size or bigger than me, because it makes me feel less self-conscious.

Going for an induction to learn how to use the machines on friday, eeeeeeeeek!

I'm terrified of excersizing while anyone is watching, including my fiance. So i have set up our wii fit in my second bedroom and it works great. Plus it keeps track of wow much I've lost and little things like what I ate and calorie intake and walking etc. And its a great motivation when you really want to make it to the next level of a challange and you cant so you force yourself to keep trying and the compouter gives you little cheers now and then. its awesome

I'm thinking of getting Wii Fit too, for those days when it's hard to get myself to the gym. I'd have to steal my brother's Wii though. Mind you, i sneak in and use it anyway, to play Legend of Zelda lol.

But who knows... it might increase my energy after a while. I've heard going to the gym can do that. I hope so lol.

Congrats LoopyLou for taking the big step! I've always avoided the gym myself, so I know where you're coming from. I've been considering getting the Wii fit system too. One of these days...

Lol... when the woman was showing me around she said "Well, it will be nothing you haven't see before anyway, it's all the standard equipment in this gym" and i was like "erm... actually..."

Hehe. I think i'll be less nervous when i've been going a while. They do Pilates classes as well, and i've been interested in that one for a while.

I was pretty uncomfortable the first time I joined a gym as well. What I found surprising was that it was the people who were the most buff that were the nicest & most helpful.

Also I found that after going for about 6 months, my teacher told me she could tell when I'd gone that morning because of how much energy I had. I also saw a drop in the number of seizures I had. To top it off I rarely had to deal with depression.

On the other hand, I don't think I even lost 1 pound. :dontknow: Go figure.

Lol... i hope i do lose more weight! Been neglecting my diet lately and i've put on 2lbs in the last two weeks. Getting back on it now though. I suppose i want to tone up and stuff too. If my bingo wings get any bigger, i'll be flying to work and back!

Welll..... they only do 12month contracts there, so i better make sure i get my moneys worth lol!

Th eother problem i have is that I am LAZY! I have no motivation to go. despite the fact that I could lose 2 inches off my hips and i wont need any alterations on my wedding dress.

I also want to get rid of my giblets (you know that little flap of skin where your armpit meets your breat and always looks strange in strapless shirts?) Soup cans in your hands and lifting straight out and up repeadly is supposed to stop this

I also love what i eat, how i eat and when i eat and i'm not going to stop that either. I am not the greatest cook and Cahd's picky

Lol... giblets... i could do with getting rid of those bits too. At least my "back boobs" are nearly gone. (thats the bit that scrunches up on your back, at the shoulderblades). Luckily my waist isn't actually too bad.

Funny, the words we come up with :P

Edit - i am also lazy too. Once i get going though, i'm generally ok. :woot:

The worst is the muffin top (basically the spare tire as it overflows the top of the jeans.). I saw an exhibit of Renaissance paintings recently, and I must say I've developed a new appreciation for the body types that were popular back then...

I'd like to join a gym. I've just always been self conscious about exercising in front of people. I did the whole gym thing with my cousin last summer. But I didn't do it religiously. Hopefully I can start up again. I need to.

Awww, you'l

have fun, Loopy Lou, I promise. It's one of those things that you actually end up enjoying, and look forward to every day. I've always had fun when I go to the gym........Just be careful, and don't overdo!!!!

Oh, and enjoy the yummy sights.....*ahem*

LOLOL

Meetz

I had considered the "yummy" sights lol...

Nakamova - i think the only thing i HAVEN'T got is the muffin top lol. It's like i've got two halves of different bodies :noevil:

Jordan - i don't like exercising in front of people either. I don't think i'll mind a gym as much though. At least it's in a building with other people trying to get fit. I'll find out what it's like tomorrow though. Going to have my induction and then have a little workout to see how i go. Going to take it easy for the first time though, and then i can step it up gradually :woot:

My goodness this is hard work!

Burnt off 607 calories today, and feeling pretty happy. Had a bit of a "moment" on the treadmill though and fell off the back of it lol. Mind you, my neuro said that my breathing can affect my epilepsy. (like when you breathe really fast). No harm done though. A few people looked at me funny:pfft:

It's gooooood :P

Good for you! That's great! The exercise should pump up your endorphins nicely. It's okay to exercise in short bursts (like 6 or 10 minute increments), and then slow down and breathe deeply to make sure you're not overdoing it. And don't forget to drink water and electrolytes. (Sorry for nagging...)

electrolytes? :dontknow:

There was one of the machines where i really couldn't finish the 5 minutes it was set at. That's something to work upto i think. I couldn't make myself move on it after 3 mins!

Oooh! Apparently i have really good strength for a "woman of my size" :woot:

I do drink loads though. I always have a bottle of water or juice with me.

If only going to the gym didn't make you so damn hungry afterwards!

Way to go:clap:we need b4 & after pics!

Electrolytes are what are in sports drinks/vitamin water: basically potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium (all the "ums"). When you get dehydrated, you need to replace not just the water but the "ums" too... :)

Lol... it's going to be a long time before you get them! Perhaps a year or more! I'm looking forward to going christmas dress shopping this year - I'm going to leave it til the last minute, perhaps a day or two before my xmas do :pop:

I'll need to do a lot of working out up until then!
