I did not start having gran mals at night til after started on keppra now I can't stop taking it. Used to stop convulsions by staying on prescribed lorr tab. Run out get sick get more from dentist or dr. I told nueroligist all of this, and after two mri's and an eeg, found no cysts, no blockages, no tumors. Eeg did not confirm epilepsy. No health insurance and I was part of this nations ever growing working poor. I'm convinced I was poisoned, and all my symptoms line up with heavy metal poisoning. I don't think those tests were done, because they are time consuming and expensive. I am just now getting my witts about me, and I think doctor at hospital is an ass. I could barely complete a sentence and all dr melenbaum can say is "since you reject my prognosis, you have made it more dificult to diagnose"First of all he has no idea what's wrong with me, so there's nothinng to reject.

Aaargh, how frustrating! I hate how the language of doctoring can be so condescending or patronizing. If we decide not to follow the medication protocol they select for us we are deemed "non-compliant."

I hope there is some sort of free clinic or hospital where you can get alternate treatment for your symptoms. if you suspect the keppra is causing them, it is possible to taper off of it, but you'll need to go very slowly, ideally under a doctor's supervision. By slowly, I mean in tiny increments over a long period of time -- reduce by a tiny amount, then stay at that dosage for two weeks, reduce by another tiny amount, stay at that dose for two weeks, etc. The more slowly you go, the less likely you will be to suffer withdrawal side effects.
