Does anyone take acetazolamide for catamenial epilepsy? If so is it effective? I am sitting here looking at the full bottle and scared to add another prescription to the list and scared of the side effects. I am menopausal. I have been hoping that my seizure frequency would change when this time of life came. But nope! Seizures only happen when my period and ovulation time would have happened. What's up with that?

Ha--I did the same thing--I had a script for it but never ended up taking it for the same reasons you are sitting there looking at the bottle (Not saying you shouldn't!!) I would guess you are still having hormonal spikes at that time, the only difference is, you just aren't ovulating or menstruating. I hear eventually those cyclical things stop. I hope to be where you are soon!! Mine almost exclusively track to those times too . .. but I still have a period. Maybe we both will see seizure control some time after the LMP. Sorry I can't offer advice on acetazolamide.
