Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed with epilepsy a year and a half ago (at 40 years old). This forum has helped a lot since I share with many of you the same doubts, concerns, fears and sadness that I have to deal with this. I changed medications one time (from Keppra to Lamictal), but around the time that I changed to Lamictal 300mg, I have been experiencing severe acne. It does not stop!! If you have experienced something similar, could you please share with me and let me know how you managed it?

All the best,

Eslynitta

Damn acne...it's your bodies way of saying your liver isn't functioning properly (for whatever reason...in this case medication side effects)...in other words...it's pissed

Also some people just have really sensitive skin and are prone to breakouts...call it genetics lol

The best you can do is remain optimistic and drink lots of water (which you should be doing already anyways)...use a face scrub and lotion...you can also use it in any other areas that might be affected...except the private areas...I'm not too sure about that haha...also sweating helps clean out the pores...do some exercise or clean the house or cook or jump in a sauna...well don't literally jump in you may trip and fall and hurt yourself...ANYWAY...getting some sun is also helpful...just make sure you aren't nuking yourself and that you don't have any harsh chemicals on your skin before doing so as it may actually cause breakouts...getting a little bit of sun each day (timing: depending on your skin tone) is vital for natural vitamin d creation...whatever methods you try just make sure they are as natural as possible...unnatural ways to help treat/prevent a problem is just bad MMMKAY! also don't forget to take a shower immediately after profuse sweating as this will wash away all the waste/toxins your body just released...otherwise you run the risk of clogging your pores and causing more breakouts...and make sure the water isn't too cold otherwise you'll go into shock or something...set it to warm first so your body can adjust then to hot or cold SLOWLY...this also helps when trying to recover quicker from strenuous workouts...hope this helps! :)

note: I am not a dermatologist...I am simply someone sharing his opinion...I also wish that one day I will find a more natural solution to treating my E...since I do not want to be taking synthetic drugs for the rest of my life...however I may not have a choice :(

I've experienced mild chin acne from Lamictal. But I've found that cutting down on processed sugars and fats has really helped -- maybe the same will work for you.

Processed anything is bad 100% of the time mmmkay...but sometimes you just don't care and want to indulge...this is called a "cheat meal" and isn't meant to become habitual or suffer the consequences lol

:hungry: MMMM...JUNKFOOD

Also forgot to mention...try not to touch your face...we tend to do it absentmindedly...

if you or someone else is going to give you a massage make sure they wash their hands first...this is just common sense lol

:twocents: oh look I found 2 pennies! :D
