last few months....seizures!!

I have had e since 16 and its seems my seizures only get worse as i get older and im having on average 7 a day. my body is not responding from injuries like it use to and im 29 not good mentally and physically.my doctor had me take the eeg home video home a few wks and no call back and not returning my calls and it seems he and his nurses and other staff could care less.and i take 5 meds pretty high doses of keppra,lamictal,vimpat,topamax,phenobarbital.losing my memory bad.very unhappy with really everything my wife treats me like a baby and knowone else knows what to do when i have seizures in my family but get scared and run.so dont really socialize wit very many people.sorry for the rant.

sorry to hear your going through a rough time! I can't say I'm much better when it comes to socializing but I definitely understand the personal aspects. Most of my family sit stock still until I'm done, except my mom who goes over board. It's embarrassing because I'm awake for it at the time it happens, though I tend to forget afterwards. As for your doctors, have you tried looking for a new one? For a second opinion or for better services. I only take Lyrica, so what you take seems like a lot to me. But you should talk about the side affects to a professional. If it's interfering with your life, there has to be something else they can do. Specially if the meds aren't helping you.

im in the process of looking for a new one it's just frustrating been with him for 6 yrs i have been tryin to get off of as many drugs without messing with seizures but heck it could only get a little worse.but nobody listens i know my body not them.

Yes, you do know your body better then them. You know how you feel. It's hard finding a new doctor when your old one doesn't live up to expectations. i was with mine for 13 years before we had to switch. And it will affect you seizures somewhat, with the amount of medicine you take. It would affect your moods, hormones. They are more then just seizure meds at times. So be careful. It's hard to find a medicine that's right for you because there are so many. But best of luck.

Id like to ask for some input from the CWE members, that seems like a lot of medication.

How common is it to be taking this much meds?

onder:I'm really sorry that your having a bad time too. i've had e since i was a child. And it was under controll. Untill i had a Heart attack in 2009. It seems like my seizuers has gotten worse. I was still ok untill i was in the hospital and they took my madical and turned me down for dissability. And you and amaginthe rest. No one will hire me. So now i don't know what to do.onder:

It's relatively rare to be on so many meds at once. But for some folks, only a combo will work. In acpollard's case, I would ask the neuro about trying to take at least one med out of the mix, given that a 5-med combo isn't completely controlling the seizures, and is having significant memory-related side effects. If the meds are worsening quality of life without providing offsetting benefits, then something needs to be tweaked.

In addition, some seizure meds can actually cause seizures. If that's the case for acpollard, taking one out might actually help with seizure control.

i tried going off the phenobarb started to have a few seizures so he didn't follow through i didn't care i was still wanting to do it havin a lot of seizures anyways added vimpat recently makes me feal like crap.starting to think that one of mine might be contributing to seizures.ughh
