Our town must be smaller than I thought! Our local paper came out today with the announcement that on Janurary 22, "We are going to have a Sobriety Checkpoint set up at Main and Pike Street across from Paul's Hardware from 6 pm to 12 midnight". Wow! I've got nothing better to do so I might as well go on down and have some fun laughing at all the drunks who didn't bother to read the paper and use the little map of alternate routes provided to go around it. We may be rural but it is a load of laughs tricking and trapping those tipsy tourists!:pfft::roflmao: Hey, wait a minute. Aren't we supposed to have snow in Janurary?:ponder: That's it! It's not the tourists...it's those drunk snowplow drivers! Catch 'em!
So what's in your paper today?

This is my favourite local newspaper writer. He always writes about the funny stuff happening in the city, as opposed to everything else in our paper having to do with robberies, shootings, stabbings, hit and runs. etc etc. I guess thats what you get for living in the murder capital of canada (sometimes winning the world award) But here is Dougs latest funny articcle!

lol- that's what ya get for living in WV!!!! Some of the things in our (weekly) paper are hilarious. Although, no tractors on anyone's front porch this week. Don't ask!!!

Well our paper likes to sensationalize just like most others, but they do get cute once in awhile. They had a lot of fun this past fall when several businessess in town made 'snowmen' by stacking up three pumpkins. They put faces on them and outfits befitting their business. The Italian restaurant had a chef, the drug store a pharmacist, the realtor had a shirt and tie.

It turned into a contest with people voting for their favorite. IT even got a little bit of TV coverage. Small towns are great.

First article on the main page of the news website

vo-tech hires long-term substitute

Interestingly this is given higher priority than the story about a police officer suing the department
