So my hubby is the one with epilepsy, we have been togethet for 11 years, he averages 3 gran mals a year. 3 days ago he had 2 in one day, normaly his recovery is a day, he sleeps and other than the soreness he's fine. I have been with him for all but 4 of these countting this last one wich happend at work. The second one was at home. He is still feeling foggy and out of it, haveing troubel thinking strait. I'm worried about him because it's never taken this long to get his mind back, i asked how long his first seizure was but the people he works with dont know how to juge when it hit and stoped, these people put a spoon in his mouth even though i explaned to them before to never do stuff like that.
Is it something i should have him go back to the Dr. for or is this okay, he hasn't had 2 so close togther in 11 years so its new to me and he dosen't remeber how long it took to get back to norm the last time. Okay or not okay for him to still be foggy 3 days later?

For me, I would definitely call the neurologist for anything outside my normal pattern. It could be an indication that his medication levels are not in the therapeutic range.

I agree. I would for sure give his neurologist a call and let them know of whats going on. Better to be safe, than sorry. I hope he recovers quickly.

Definitely not overreacting. You never know if there is an underlying cause other than medication issues, too. It's best to be a little extra careful. Glad you are taking it seriously! =) Hang in there!

I guess I'll be the one to play devil's advocate here.
Definately agree his neuro should know about the seizures and everything, but I wouldn't panic too much on his grogginess being more than usual. 2 grand mals in one day is very harsh, and if that was only three days ago it makes total sense that he's still feeling it. Everyone's different, but it's not abnormal at all for one's mental, emotional, and physical state to take even weeks, some I've read months, to return. If 2 in a day isn't normal for him then his recovery time won't be the same either.
I know if I had two in a day I wouldn't be myself for awhile either. So like I said, good to talk to neuro about anything that goes on, they gotta do their job, but honestly hun I wouldn't let it rile me up too much at this stage.
As for the med comment - if he's having two in a day his meds aren't working properly and need to be adjusted anyway, extra good reason to make an appt. with the neuro.
Best of luck keep us posted.

I agree with qtowngirl. I've found that my "recovery" period has varied from a few hours to few weeks. Still, it never hurts to be overvigilant, and contacting the neurologist may provide peace of mind. If he doesn't seem to be improving, or is getting worse, definitely get in touch with the docs sooner rather than later.

It's been 11 years we have been together and i this the first time i have done one of these, man i wish i did this a long time ago...... day 4 now and it's getting better for him not all the way but better. Thsnk you so much for taking the time to send me your thoughts, it all helped.:-)
