I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself to all of you. My son suffers from Lennox Gastaut syndrome of epilepsy. He is at home receiving care for severe hypotonia, hip dysplasia, dysphagea along with epilepsy and seems to be doing farely well on the Keppra Vimpat combo. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here and if you have any questions just ask:)

Welcome KyraJ from another mom living in The Netherlands.
My 12-year old (will be 13 in 4 months) special needs son has Lennox Gastaut syndrome too.
Hypoglycaemia caused severe braindamage two days after he was born. He has multiple disabilities, is in a wheelchair and can't talk. We do live in a house full off equipment (wheelchair, stroller, bed, chair, lift etc.) We have built his bedroom and bathroom downstairs. He goes to a special needs daycare center for care and therapies.
We have tried over 10 different meds in various combinations (including Keppra, Vimpat wasn't available yet) from age 1 to 5 but none off them helped to reduce his many seizures. At the age off 5 we started him on the ketogenic diet. Within 2 weeks he had a significant seizure reduction (>90% less) and after half a year on the diet his EEG improved from a contant 100% epileptic slow wave LGS-pattern to >30% He is on the diet for 8 years coming July and med free. The diet is worth all effort and limitations when effective.
