My baby nephew had a seizure last night... :(

My poor baby nephew had a seizure last night.... I guess he had a fever all day and it spiked to 105 and he had a seizure... He is all good now, but OMG it scared me so bad, I was like, another of us now has this?? I have heard it is pretty common for babies to have them when they get sick, forgot what theyre called, but something.. Anyways just sharing... His 5 year old sister and 10 year brother saw it and were so scared... Poor babies..

Sorry to hear about your baby nephews seizure, I can imagine that would be very scarey for the family especially his brother & sister. Hope it was a one of & he will be ok now.

I am pretty sure a seizure with w fever is called a febrile seizure

A febrile seizure, also known as a fever fit or febrile convulsion, is a convulsion associated with a significant rise in body temperature. They most commonly occur in children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years (with only 10% of reported seizures occurring after the age of 3) and are twice as common in boys as in girls.

I had my 1st seizure at 9 months old & I think it was my sister (who was 8 at the time) who was the 1st to witness it. From what I've been told I think I was in my cot & my sister went to my Mum to tell her something was wrong with me. My siblings are all older then me so they grew up seeing me have tonic clonic seizures until I was 3.

Thank you. He is doing much much better. His temp is back to normal and he is eating well... So did yours start just out of nowhere or was it from being sick the 1st time?? I am hoping that this was a one time thing for him...

I had my 1st TC not long after I had a tetanus injection for whooping cough.
They aren't 100% sure but my parents & the GPs who looked after me as a baby think it could've been the injection that triggered my seizures.
My 1st seizure was in 1978 so there wasn't as much research into epilepsy as there is now.

I went 21 years seizure free (had no seizures from 3 until the seizures came back in 2002 when I was 24). I don't blame anyone for my epilepsy or for my seizures returning as it is a part of me & something that I learnt to live with.

I thought I was clear of them since I hadn't had one in such a long time. Now since I have had I believe 3 in the past year. Seizures, darn things. I have said it before but epilepsy is very unpredictable.
Although I had my last seizure at 3, I was kept on meds until I was about 7.

After my seizures returned I mainly took simple/complex partials.
MRIs showed that I had scarring on my left temporal lobe which the neurologists/epiologists all believe was from the TC seizures I had as a baby/infant. But why I went so long seizure free is a still mystery.

I'm not going to complain though because at the moment my seizures are under control & there are a lot of people worse of then me.
