My Father has had some strange ideas lately for fixing up our place lately. And our place is fine, we only need to replace the window's, they're pretty drafty, but that'll be done next summer, I have 2 Uncles that own a window and door manufacturing business so we get a nice discount! (if one won't give us a discount, the other will for sure!)

His latest idea is to take out the stairs to the basement and replace it with a spiral staircase! I lent him my laptop to look at his favorite home improvement store website and he immediately found some prices. I asked him if he still wanted to do the expansion on our kitchen since it's pretty small, and he said "Nope! When we put the spiral staircase in we'll get more room because the stairs we have now will be taken out!"

Unfortunately, my Father isn't able to do much when it comes to working on houses any more, so he'll have to convince my Brother-in-law to help out with this, and not just my brother-in-law, but my sister too! I'm sure she's going to object to this idea of his, and try to get our Father to stick with expanding the kitchen instead.

As for my opinion of the spiral staircase, i'm still kinda stunned that he's even thought of it!

And I can't quite picture having one when looking at our kitchen now lol, i'd much rather have the kitchen expanded because we don't even have a dining room, our dining room table is in the living room, in front of the bay window and just a small table in the kitchen that's mostly used to put groceries on when returning from the store before putting them away, or to hold the mail from day to day.

Sometimes when people want things changed in their house you just want to smack them on the head because what they want to have done is the most stupidest thing in the world. Especially when there is something that actually needs t be done!

What I'm worried most about is getting this done lol, we haven't had much luck with remodeling, or updating our houses before, when I was a child, my parents decided to remodel the house because they wanted to sell it, and we ended up with bed sheets for our bedroom doors for 3 yrs! Didn't make much for privacy LOL.

And unfinished sheetrock walls because since my Father stopped just after mudding and taping, and hadn't sanded so we weren't able to paint our rooms. The bathroom still had a door, thank goodness!

My only experience with a spiral staircase is from when we rented a cabin and had one that went to the loft bedroom. It was kind of dangerous. Dangerous to get down and easy to walk into the steps and bang your head. My husband banged his head a couple times on the metal steps.
