First time looking to a forum like this. Epilepsy became part of my life in 1977 at the ripe old age of 4. Through childhood it was fairly well controlled on just one medication but it seemed like just after graduation from high school my brain decided it wanted to make life more difficult. Seizures were an almost daily occurrence.
After 5 neurologists and almost ten years I finally got sent to the head neurologist for my provider. Go through all the testing: diet, sleep deprivation and all the usual scanning to see if they could find their origin. After 7 days of sleep deprivation they finally showed their ugly heads and the tests showed the problem in the left temporal lobe. The doc decided that surgery was a possible remedy. He wanted me to think about it for awhile, if it was a possibility I would have gone under the knife that day. My mother really wanted me to think about it also. The decision is always gonna be harder for the parents but she would back me either way.
The surgery finally happened on July 27th, 2001. It looks like I'm starting to write a autobiography here. Seizures are well controlled now but I can't say they are totally gone. After being tested again it was found that they now come from the right temporal lobe...
Looking forward to making some new friends and I hope I to give support to anybody who needs it. :hello:
