I figured I'd post this question in here because you all are very intelligent. Plus I'm not going to see my neurosurgeon for another couple weeks. Do you think it's possible for me to pass my epilepsy down to my son? I developed it when I was 16 from scar tissue due to a brain tumor removal. He is 4 right now but of course it could develop at any time.

Some forms of epilepsy appear to be genetically predisposed. If your epilepsy was the result of a brain tumor, I would suppose the answer rests on whether the brain tumor is likely genetically predisposed or not.

Unless you have other relatives/ancestors with seizure disorders, it's unlikely that you have a genetic form of epilepsy, and it's unlikely that your son will develop it. When there appears to be a primary trigger -- in your case, scarring for surgery -- then that tends rule out a genetic cause.
