Hi my name is Alma I am 21 yrs old and I had my first seizure about four years ago. I got diagnose with neurocysticercosis. I had a few symptoms (like a weird buzz in my ear, my left arm and sometimes leg would tingle/go numb) but I would always just ignore it thinking it was because I was stressed. When I had my first seizure I started with keppra 250mg twice a day, I kept on having episodes and my dr put me on 500mg twice a day. That as well didn't work for me then he decided to put me on 1000mg twice a day. I felt like keppra wasn't working for me so I decided to get a second opinion. I am now currently taking Lamotrigine 100mg twice a day and it's worked very good so far. I've been seizure free for 4 months now. And I am so very thankful! I hope this medication keeps my seizures under control.

I'm just wondering if anyone else on here has being diagnosed with the same diagnoses. And if so I would really appreciate any comments or any advice :)
Thanks!

Hi almah331, welcome to CWE!

It's great that the switch to Lamictal has helped to get your seizures under control. Is the neurocysticercosis also well-controlled at this point, or are you still being treated for that? Did you get infected when traveling abroad?
