I'm new here and have been trying to read up on anyone getting bruises from no falls on their legs on calves from the inside...above ankles from the inside. Is it possible from the muscle spasms? Being that this was one of the longest lasting grand mals I've had my family has told me. It kills me to have my younger daughter (11) have fear of this happening to her. All around it doesn't just have affect on me but on my family as well. I'm sure everyone here knows how I mportant an adequate nights sleep is to prevent an episode. I haven't been to a neuro since I had my youngest...experienced a seizure during labor. Since then ive been on dilantin. Hurts not to have control of your own life without depending on meds grr but hey that's life and I guess it is what it is....btw Im glad there are people out there whom I can relate to :hugs:

I've experienced all kinds of seizures, even TCs in front of my two children when they were young. Ended up with bruises, broken glasses, burns, car accident.... the list goes on and on.... anything is possible when you have Tonic/Clonic (grand mal) seizures. It sounds like you need to have a check-up with your neuro since you haven't been to one since your daughter was born. Have your Dilantin level checked, it could need an adjustment.

Hi hilly, welcome. I'm sure you've already seen how great a place for support and friendship CWE is :)

I end up getting bruises in all sorts of weird places after t/c's. Happens to us all!

It's perfectly understandable that the bruises on your calves were from your leg shaking and hitting something- it's very possible to break bones in this way if you're incredibly unfortunate, but I'd say most damage to me is done by the actual fall.

I try and keep a few big scatter cushions around my house now :)
