Thanks for my membership. My wife had seizure after three years of stroke. It is scar epilepsy as doctor has put the diagnosis. Wil my wife get repeated seizures? What will be next event after this? I would like to know the experience of members on this sight. Thanks friends.

Hi jainnagraj, welcome to the forum.

Scar tissue in the brain can be a "focal point" for seizure origination. There is no way to tell for sure whether she will have repeat seizures. Best you can do (IMO) is avoid things that are likely to contribute to having another seizure (excess alcohol/caffeine/drugs, dehydration, disturbed sleep schedules, etc.).

Thanks Bernard. I will do as suggested by you. In due course naturally I will like to help support this forum.

Welcome to C.W.E. you have meet Bernard the one to thank for all this. It's hard to say what is going to happen next simply because we are not doctors, just people with something in common. I commend you for asking the question though, its a bit scary to be told your wife has epilepsy but it is just one thing more you have to deal with and I am not saying it will be easy for either of you all any of us can do is our best. Try reading a few of the older threads here to give you an idea as well. Ask all the questions you can think of and we will try helping.

Thanks Fedup for concern. My wife is 72 and I am 73. We both have atherosclerosis of arteries. Her brain artries and mine heart arteries are affected.

Hi jainnagraj, welcome!

Has your wife been prescribed any medicine by her doctors to prevent additional seizures?

Eptoin is the prescribed medicine for epilepsy. The dose of medicine is being adjusted as per test. Initial dose was 100mg thrice a day. Now it is 250 mg a day.I am worried about repeatition of seizure in which case probably it will be classified as epilepsy. Thanks Nakamova.

Do many ppl with seizures have trouble controlling their blood sugar? My wife monitors her blood sugar closely and it drops on her a good bit even with foods that should be stable. I just wondered if it was common for ppl with epilepsy to have other issues compiled like hypoglycemia.

In hospital my wife's blood sugar was being monitored probably four times a day. All the readings were higher than limits. Doctor said that hypoglasemia is more dangerous than hyperglasemia.Doctor adviced to keep blood sugar levels post lunch to about 220 and fasting to about 140. Robbymore21 I think that there is truth in what you have said.

Welcome jainnagraj! You have found the best place to have questions answered. If they are not answered out right, then you will at least have a good conversation about them. I hope that your wife gets the control that she needs on her medication. If she does not, do not be timid in asking for a different one. Everyone's brain is different, so the medication works differently on each of us. Best of luck!

My wifes sugar levels only get above 140 ish if she has a seizure. Otherwise it stays on the high side being 90 to 110. And in her drops we regularly see 60's (which we immediately take action to raise) and we have caught it as low as 29.

Immediately before seizure blood sugar levels are low and immediately after seizure if they are high?
