A friend of mine sent me this page and I must say, I'm thankful. I've been dealing with this condition for almost 10 years and it hasn't really gotten any easier. I've been having some problems with my memory due to this condition. Is this common?

Hi Gabrielle,
A warm welcome to CWE. Someone will respond soon, so dont give up!
best wishes

Hi GabrielSolitude, welcome to CWE!

Memory problems are pretty common -- they can be caused by seizures and/or by the meds. Have you mentioned the memory issues to your neurologist? If it's med-related, the neuro might be able to tweak your meds to reduce that side effect.

They might also want to schedule a neuropsych test. It's a bunch of different tests to measure cognitive and memory function. It can be helpful for setting a benchmark for measuring any additional changes, and it can sometimes determine which areas of the brain are involved. The neuropsychiatrist can also suggest techniques or workarounds to help.

Best,
Nakamova

Thank you both for responding. I mentioned the issue to my neurologist. Last year I had a seizure that lasted about five minutes, according to my little brother. I woke up 1 1/2 days later and had lost 3 months of time. Something similar happened to me this past Tuesday while I was out and about. I don't really recall how I got home but I woke up late yesterday missing about a month of time. I have a follow-up appointment with my doctor soon. I hope that he can shed some light on things for me.
