Hi I'm very confused and glad to have found this forum, hope everyones well. I have dissociative seizures and so non-epileptic but the symptoms are unpleasant I wanted to relate to others. I dont know what type of seizures I fit into... I do remain conscious but my awareness is altered... I experience bilateral eye spasm, numbness and facial numbness as well as nausea and sometimes heart palpitation. And.... fear. Looking for tips to cope.

Hi! And welcome I too am new to this community! Right now I am working on letting all my family and friends know about the kind of epilepsy I have and just because I don't shake doesn't mean there is nothing wrong. I'm not sure this is the best step but its the one I choose to start with. Good Luck on your journey I hope you get the answers you need!

Hi Chelle, hope you find support and I know what you mean. I did years back shake when they started but now I have different neuro symptoms. Good luck to you too and thanks.

Hi pes,

Welcome to CWE. I'm curious of dissociative seizures and how they differe from epileptic seizures. Maybe a conversation to have later. I'm nosy. :P

Hi pes . Hi Chelle.
Welcome to CWE !
Seizures are caused from a lot of things and are scary at times...
The epileptic seizures are from electrical disturbances in the brain where-as dissociative seizures are not...but sadly they are still seizures...
pes , I was wondering what type of treatment if any are you getting ?

Its great that you are letting others know about your epilepsy .
this is a great forum . a lot of good people here...

Welcome pes :)

Non-Epileptic seizures and Epileptic seizures, even though have different causes, have almost identical symptoms/manifestations. They can even be hard to distinguish from each other, and be misdiagnosed as one another.

I myself was diagnosed with "Psychogenic" Non-Epileptic seizures 6 years ago after seeing my first Neurologist when complaining about similar type of seizure activity (Simple Partial Seizure). And now my new Neurologist believes I am having Epileptic seizures and we are continuing further testing.

I am (relatively) new as well, and have found CWE is a great site for support and information for all types of seizures and epilepsy :)
