Hello! How are you? My name is Sana. I am 20 years old. I have been having partial/focal seizures just about everyday for the past 3 years. I had recently been diagnosed with epilepsy in January and I was taking depakote 4x's a day. In the beginning it was actually helping, but then after a month the seizures came back not as often as before though, but still they came back. Now, due to a side effect of the medication my hair has been falling out - scratch that A LOT of my hair has been falling out. Since I have been worried, I stopped taking the medication and I'm currently waiting for health insurance to kick in. I'm not sure what to do. It's only gotten scary since the first day of knowing and it just sucks to know that I am no longer in control of my body. It's hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I will be dealing with this "disease" for the rest of my life and it may continue to get worse.

I know of a few other people who have epilepsy, but none are recently diagnosed or have partial/focal seizures.

Thanks.

Hi Sana, welcome to the forum. :hello:

Coming to terms with having epilepsy is easy for some people and difficult for many. I personally think it has a lot to do with one's general perspective on life (incl. one's expectations).

When epilepsy is uncontrolled, life can be difficult, scary, depressing, etc. We'll be here to offer you comfort as best we can.

But hopefully, the collective knowledge and experience here might be able to help you find a solution to getting the seizures under control. Life is so much brighter when you get the seizures under control.

Welcome to the forum Sana,i think you will find a lot off help and relief on CWE,make the most off it,it has helped a lot off others.Welcome again!!!!

Hello Sana, its a nuisance but nothing bad that couldnt be worse! Its one of my good days.. Yes, I am sure you will get the seizures under control and do go visit all sites and check out all as suggested, chat to all other members and you will get much help and relief. Check the alternative medicine and the relaxation, everything, and somewhere there may just be something that appeals especially to you.... Welcome to Forum and I hope we can be of some wee bit of comfort to you.

I've had epilepsy for 10 years now. Through the years I've been on and off of so many different meds that I've lost count. Some didn't work and some may have worked but I couldn't handle the side effects. It's a very frustrating thing to deal with.

With the combo of meds that I'm on now I'm still having seizures but not as many or as bad as they were.

You'll learn a lot on here and get a ton of help, I know I have!

Glad to meet you :hello:

Thank you for all the support! Already, know that I made the right decision joining this forum! :)

Visited my doc last tuesday, and had meds changed, a new combination as I knew she would, we are looking for the right combination. I hope I feel that wee bit better, do I have a bit more energy? more interest in life? Just living in hope? We can but try and I will continue to try until we hit the jackpot. I believe in miracles! This is obviously one of my good days and long may it last... When the depression sets in then there is no such thing as life...lol...but that doesnt last, we just climb up again and you will right up to the top and beat this bloody thing, wont you?
Good Girl!
