Hi, I am Ryan. I am 29, I had a series of seizures in 2009 that were 'diagnosed' as 'generalized seizures' but I have a clean EEG/MRI, perfect blood scores, health etc. I pretty much figured out it was linked to alcohol, or at least triggered/aggravated by it within 12 hours.

I am 4 years sober, 4 years medicated, and seizure free. I feel terrible and really uneasy without medications so something isn't right, so I am not sure if it was an on-set of some kind or what. But I won't touch wine even.

Now, my son is 7, and has some behavioral problems (ODD)... but now I am not so sure what is going on here. Because it was a few months ago I swore he had a partial seizure of some kind. Mom was tickling him, maybe a bit overboard, but thats what parents are good for :) and he suddenly was on the ground rolling around making noises, like, "UH UH UH UH UH" and this lasted about 5 minutes, maybe a little less, then once we could "talk to him again" and get a response he was really, really, tranquil. He has no idea what it was about, what happened, or why and didn't seem too disturbed about it.

We dismissed it, maybe it was him just being really really silly, but why the calm after the storm? I didn't feel like I was ok with that then.

Then tonight happened, we were playing again on the bed, the tickle and horse around before bed routine, and he started freaking out. Saying his body was out of control, that he was tingling and everything was fuzzy and pleading to make it stop. Crying, freaking out style, wanting to throw up, he was getting loud about it. He swore he was in low blood sugar, but we had him tested and tonight he had no signs of it. No paleness, sweating, nothing, but again some confusion.

Now that he calmed down, he was talking kind of funny, not slurry, just.... funny.

Does this sound like partials? Its been 2 months since the first episode.

Mom is really scared. I told her the first step is to calm down. There is nothing we can do but to let it pass and get him diagnosed/testing immediately.

Sounds like a partial, absolutely. Keep us posted on the testing!

Hi RyanA, welcome to CWE!

When in doubt -- especially with kids -- see a doc as soon as possible. Whatever is happening (and it does sound like partial seizures) seems to be neurological in origin and should get checked out. Because of your history, the doc may ask about any other family members with seizure or migraine history. Do you or mother know of any other relatives who might have experienced something similar?
