I am new to the Forum. I have both epilepsy and muscular dystrophy, which I know to be linked. I have read a few books about both disorders. I have considerable knowledge about what I am experiencing, and the science behind it. I have read a few posts. I would like to encourage people to learn as much as you can about your disorders yourself. Doctors are not nearly as knowledgable as we think they are. Doctors don't seem to like it. In the long run we will get better care.

Hi and welcome to CWE!

I agree -- asking questions and getting informed is a great way to be proactive about a health problem. But I would say that some doctors do like it when we become informed consumers. Not of all them feel threatened when the doctor-patient relationship becomes more equal and less patronizing.

Thank you for your post and encouragement.
