Hi Im Keith and have been having seizures for about a year and a half. The couple dr's ive seen act like they could care less. They refuse to believe me about what medications keep me from having seizures. Would give anything for a dr who actually gives a crap. If anyone knows one please let me know.

Hi, Keith and welcome to CWE
As far as doctor recommendations go, it would help those here if you indicated where you were from (Canada, UK, USA, etc. and if USA which state).
What medications are you on and who prescribed them? Do they completely stop the seizures?
It can be frustrating finding a doctor who listens. Have you seen a neurologist and had MRI and EEG(s) done? If so and you're no further ahead, then definitely seek a second opinion. If you haven't seen a neurologist yet, starting with one in your area of residence is the first and easiest step.

Thanks for helping i didnt think to write those down. I am from Birmingham alabama USA. I am currently taking xanax and yes they keep the seizures away plus i take them for anxiety also. Had mri and cat scan but its been a long time ago need more tests. I have an appt with a neurologist/pain clinic in a couple months they couldnt see me sooner. Thank you for your help n questioms hopefully my answers helped.

pain clinic . i dont get that...are you in alot of pain ?
:ponder:

Who put you on xanax? Was it a neurologist or a GP? I know on my health plan my GP refers me to my other doctors including my neurologist. Keith you need a neurologist.

Welcome to CWE. It was made by Bernard out of love for his wife Stacy. That love permeates throughout the whole forum.

Yes I have an extreme amount of pain. My spine looks like a question mark and i have a protruding, pinched and bulging nerve. The constant pain along with the severe anxiety does.t exactly help my stressers any. Insomnia is also a problem, i go days without sleep and thats with multiple sleeping meds. The xanax was given by a GP DR but to my surprise it stopped my seizures. My other problem is my dr doesnt take my medicaid and im disabled so i havent been able to go back to him.

Hey Keith, welcome to CWE!

I hope you are able to find a neuro who will take a close look at your seizures and your entire medical history to figure out the best treatment plan going forward.

Is your back pain related to your seizures? (For example, are they both the result of an accident?) Sometimes there can be damage to the upper spine that can trigger seizure symptoms.

Best,
Nakamova

Have you ever thought about doing anything about your back? I had two herniated discs that were practically bone on bone. I had severe pain from them. There were times I couldn't move and would end up in the ER going by ambulance. None of the pain meds I was given helped. I don't know if it was just me or one of the epilepsy meds for the reason that they did no good.

Sometimes mixing of meds can cause seizures. I went to a pain clinic and given steroid shots for my back and that didn't help either and I was having a good bit of seizures while getting them. When I stopped getting the shots the number of seizures I have went back to normal. That's when I realized that it was the steroids that were causing them.

I had screws put in and I don't have any pain since I did that so I don't have to take any type of med for my back now, only meds for my seizures.

If you live in the USA, you should go to Social Security and put in for disability.
It takes a long time but I got it on the third try. I don't know what the laws are in other countries.

I have back pain but I am on pain pills for it. It's the only way I can get around.:shake:

Im currently on my third try for disability and they are saying its looking good for me to get it whenever we get a court date.
