I do not have epilepsy. I have chronic hypotension which causes me to faint/lose consciousness frequently. I've been told that the worst of these episodes are considered non-epileptic seizures, but I normally just refer to my condition as fainting.
Essentially, due to any number of random factors, my blood pressure drops to comatose levels and I have loss of vision/hearing and then lose consciousness. Sometimes I'll just have the loss of hearing/vision and time will pass without my knowledge, or everything will just be foggy and I can't seem to connect to anything (sorry for the ambiguity, I haven't had any diagnosis beyond hypotension for the fainting). Currently, I lose consciousness at least daily and I can't drive and I can't do anything "dangerous" without someone there for fear I'll fall and hurt myself.
I know it's not the same, and I will never claim to face the same level of adversity as many members of this forum. There are definite similarities though and I've found reading through the experiences of others to be very beneficial.
Forgive me if I have been insensitive in some way; I'm still very ignorant but I am glad to have found a community of people in similar situations. However, I know this was not created for people in my situation, so I understand if I don't belong or cannot be part of this forum and will harbor no ill will.
Thank you for reading!
